Absolutely gorgeous, historic accommodation in the heart of Strängnäs. You can see the Domkyrka bell tower from the bedroom window and it’s a short walk to the harbour and windmill (well worth a tour—it’s free and the guides are fantastic). Henrik and Isa have thought of every comfort and are incredibly obliging hosts. The bed is possibly the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in. Strängnäs itself is adorable. Its location on Mälaren makes for a beautiful outlook, there are cafes, restaurants and boutiques. There are shops, pubs and swimming spots. The train takes you to Stockholm in less than an hour and it’s not too far to Mariefred and Gripsholms Slott. I mean, what’s not to love? Henrik and Isa have good recommendations to suit your needs. You should stay here!

Offering a garden and garden view, Thottska Villan is set in Strömsholm, 24 km from Västerås Train Station and 27 km from Parken Zoo. Beautiful old but well-maintained villa with a nice backyard and sauna down by the river. Does not have luxuries like ensuite bathroom, elevator or soundproof time. But it's very picturesque and brings one back to mundane Sweden of mostly forgotten times.

A recently renovated holiday home situated in Södertälje, Röd Stuga features barbecue facilities. The air-conditioned accommodation is 27 km from Kungens Kurva Shopping Centre. Very clean, great kitchen and the owner was super helpful and easy to reach!

Quaint little house in the middle of a horse ranch, only 1.5 hours from Stockholm. Ulrika was super friendly and available for all of our needs! We will be coming back!

Set in Kolbäck in the Vastmanland region, Bärsta BnB features a patio. This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. The host Ulrika was really lovely, communication was very smooth and she answered her messages very quickly. We only stayed one night on the way between Stockholm and our next destination, but we really could have stayed another night! The room was super cosy, on a very nice farm. The bed was so comfortable! And we also really liked the very complete breakfast that was prepared for us. Overall a perfect first stop for our trip, and we would love to come back!
