Located in the sacred Koyasan area, Saizenin offers simple accommodation surrounded by mountains and many temples. It was a unique experience and I recommend it! Very spiritual town, beautiful nature, and a lot of history. The room was comfortable and spacious with an incredible garden view. The food was interesting and tasty. The morning ceremony and the afternoon meditation with monk are a must! There was also a public bath.

簡易宿所 ふくろく is located in Shingu, less than 1 km from Kamikura Shrine, a 13-minute walk from Shingu Castle Ruins Park, as well as 1.4 km from Kumano Hayatama Taisha. I loved it and felt so welcomed. There is only a small number of rooms which makes it really quiet and relaxed. I always had the shared facilities to my self and the facilities were all really clean and the room was very spacious, light and bright. The host was super nice as well and made me feel right at home. Can recommend!

200 metres from Kumanokodo Nakahechi Museum of Art, 民宿 和合 Minshuku WAGO is a recently renovated property set in Tanabe and offers air-conditioned rooms with free WiFi and private parking. Ik was the most welcoming kind host I have come across in a long time. The room was warm and traditional. The food was delicious.

AJITO Hostel & CafeBar asub Shingus, kõigest 500 meetri kaugusel Shingu lossi varemetest. Kohapeal on tasuta jalgrattad, baar ja terve päeva valve. Very friendly staff, abd their restaurant down the road was fantastic authentic experience as well.

Koyasan Shukubo Ryusenin asub Koyasanis, Kishi jaamast 39 km kaugusel. Majutusasutusest avaneb vaade aiale. Kolmetärnihotellis on aed ja konditsioneeriga toad, millel on ühine vannituba. It was a true temple stay and quite traditional so a great experience to remember. The rooms were quite spacious and comfortable including cushions and low table to sit at as well as comfy lounge chairs and coffee table for sitting options. When we went to dinner the monks came in and prepared the futons for the night and when we went to breakfast they came in and packed up bedding to return room to day configuration. The meals were beautiful vegetarian cuisine, nutritious and beautifully presented in private dining rooms, both dinner and breakfast. We went to the early morning prayer ceremony which was a lovely experience. Just 6 or 7 couples where we listened to chanting and the monks prayed for the wellbeing of the world.

The Monks are all so kind and welcoming. There ceremonies, the food, the history and culture. You feel part of the family and that feeling will stay forever. The entire experience from train to cable rail car, is all part of an experience that is priceless. Nearby sites and the town itself on Mt. Koya are unbelievable.
