Royal Oak Guesthouse, a property with a shared lounge, is situated in Orkney, 2.2 km from Scapa Beach, 17 km from Maeshowe, as well as 19 km from Standing Stones of Stenness. Arriving late off the Northlink ferry is sometimes a challenge for getting booked into places and obtaining keys and parking can be an issue. This however was perfect with its own car park and the room keys and a welcome note left for my arrival. The room was prepared ready for my arrival, heating and lights on and curtains closed. The en-suite room was warm and comfortable with all the usual shower gel, shampoo, tea and coffee etc. The breakfast was perfect and the owners/staff very welcoming and friendly. I've definitely found my place for when work takes me to Orkney :-)

My husband and I enjoyed our stay with Laura and Brian immensely. There we cookies, pastries, tea and coffee really available upon arrival and throughout our entire stay. For the self catered breakfast, there were lots of hot/cold cereals, breads, pastries (gluten-free options), juices, yogurts, local cheeses, and all the fixings. Each morning, Laura had scones or some other baked good heating in the oven. Heating your own food for dinner or eating take out was an option, too, which we took advantage of one evening. Our room was very beautiful, modern, and cozy with a very comfortable bed. The whole place was spotless. Laura suggested restaurants and places of interest off the beaten path. She was a gracious, thoughtful, wonderful host - some of the best hospitality on our month long trip! Thanks for everything, Laura. We loved our stay with you. Highly recommend.

It was an amazing stay. Unfortunately just for one night, but I can definitely imagine longer stay in such a cozy and beautiful place! It was very clean and well equipped and the surroundings were awesome. ☺️

Offering a garden and quiet street view, Shorelands B&B is situated in Kirkwall, 2.7 km from Scapa Beach and 17 km from Maeshowe. The host(s) are lovely, the breakfast was delicious, the room was great. It had a really good combination of privacy in our room as well as comfortable common areas that made it feel like we were just staying with the family. Nicky was able to accommodate us for the guided tour (a later start time) and I'm so glad it worked out - the tour was one of my favorite parts of the overall trip to Scotland.

Boasting sea views, Lilly"s Lodges Orkney Hedgehog Lodge provides accommodation with a terrace and a balcony, around 10 km from Standing Stones of Stenness. the scenery was amazing. the location is quiet and calming. we had a very relaxing stay in the lodge. the sheep were so cool and cute. my little toddler really loved watching them. everything was clean and comfortable. the host was super nice and patient. they gave me the code to get in the lodge soon after i booked the lodged but when i landed in country i was not able to pull up the conversation in the app. however she was so quick to respond and check in was smooth even after all the tech problems. we will definitely stay in lillys lodge when we come back in orkney.
