Very unique and comfortable. Loved the onsen on the balcony. We had a suite and it was huge. Great food and the book store was incredible. Definitely recommending to friends.
Hotel Tamanoyu features spacious public hot spring baths, as well as private ones. For further relaxation, it offers massages, Japanese cuisine and small classical concerts.

This was a wonderful traditional ryokan with a lot of interesting history that is on the Nakasendo. Convenient location on the way to the Kiso valley from the Mt. Fuji area. Beautiful garden view from our room. Both the dinner and breakfast were delicious with a wide variety of dishes. Would definitely stay here again!
Offering lake views, Sui Suwako in Suwa features accommodations, a garden, a bar, and a shared lounge. This ryokan provides free private parking and an elevator.

Everyone was super friendly The hotel was excellent, clean and looks even nicer than in the photos. The food was great and served in a fine dining manner. The service was outstanding.
Boasting large hot spring baths and great Suwa Lake views, Kamisuwa Onsen Shinyu provides Japanese-style guestrooms with a modern touch in a relaxing ambiance.

One of our favourite locations for Japan. The staff are very friendly and the room was great. We tried Onsen at the hotel for the first time and loved it. The views from our room were beautiful.
Located in the Utsukushigahara hot-spring area, Hotel Shoho offers Japanese and Western accommodations with mountain views.

The place is amazing, great onsen experience, great and fruitful dinner as well as good breakfast with many options. The only downside is that the hotel is far from the station so they could supply more hours for the free shuttle but overall a great hotel.
Gingetsu offers accommodations in Shimo-suwa, 2.7 miles from Canora Hall and 18 miles from The Japan Ukiyo-e Museum. Both free Wifi and parking on-site are accessible at the ryokan free of charge.

Staff was very friendly, the room was pretty quiet, and the onsen was quite relaxing
Featuring traditional Japanese hot springs known as "onsen," these hotels offer a relaxing soak in therapeutic, geothermal waters. Traditionally onsens were located outdoors, but a number of hotels now offer indoor facilities for private or shared use. The healing properties of each onsen will vary depending on its location, with "kuroyu" black water famous for its positive effects on skin.
The suite was ample, beautifully restored and designed. I was greeted with a delicious treat. All beverages were complementary. The private hot tub on the deck looking towards the mountains was fantastic. The bed was very comfortable and the bedding of the greatest quality. The Onsen was great. The dinner was very special and I enjoyed each dish. The staff were very welcoming. This was a fantastic experience.
This is a truly amazing place. We stayed at a similar concept hotel at matsumoto but BYAKU blowed us away with the level of service and standards in term location, full board dinner and breakfast, landscape, onsen facilities, not to mention the charming old town that beat all the old streets we visited during our two weeks long holidays. Thank you BYAKU for the good hospitality.
The dinner was amazing, beautifully presented and delicious. Breakfast was more of a challenge for a western palate but there were plenty of things we could eat. The property is beautifully done. We visited the bar after dinner to try some Sake. The lady running the bar was great. We really enjoyed the onsen. Narai is a beautiful location and well worth a visit.
Style, service and location. Perfection in Narai. Stunning modern aesthetic based in historic buildings. Staff went beyond to cater to any need. Food was just exceptional. Onsen pure luxury.
Stayed here before we started a hike on the Nakasendo.
Got the breakfast in the morning, which was very good.
Conveniently located for station and some restaurants.
The rooms arent large but are comfortable and the in house onsen is large and good.
Some good restaurants nearby, but Shiojiri doesnt have much else going on, unless you like wine and Whiskey.....
Amazing and beautiful town and ryokan. Just the best for this area. Food was amazing and a chance to taste authentic Japanese cuisine including natti for breakfast (!!!)
This is a great way to experience public bathing in Japan.. lots of bath options and saunas, not a typical hotel, but mainly public onsen with hotel (basic, but clean and comfortable) and 5-6 restaurants, massage, and everything you need to enjoy the stay. We came from a full day biking, and onsen spa was best we could ask for!
Never been to a hotel before where you were not allowed to walk in with shoes, and had to leave them in a locker near the entrance. No problem at all as it was stricktly enforced. Room was standard japanese, so just enough room to maneuvre around the beds, which were rather firm. Was very busy, even the (free) car park was filled to capacity. We did not use the onsen, which I think is the main attraction of the hotel.
