Sunbeam Motel, hotel in San Luis Obispo

Located within 28 miles of Paso Robles Event Center and a 18-minute walk of Mission San Luis Obispo de Tolosa, Sunbeam Motel has rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in San Luis Obispo.

Jerry, the manager, was very personable and flexible. I was concerned about the air quality during the LA fires. He assured me it was AOK(which it turned out be) but was flexible re: if I felt the need to cancel I was impressed with the sensor light that went on as you approached the bathroom. Everything was tasteful and easy comfortable.

The villa motel is a fantastic value. It’s a cute locally run motel in a perfect location. The rooms were very clean, heater/AC worked, shower water got hot quick. It met every expectation we had given the price!

Los Padres Inn, hotel in San Luis Obispo

This hotel is within a 5-minute walk of downtown San Luis and one mile from California Polytechnics State University. It offers free parking and rooms with free Wi-Fi.

The room was decent, very clean, and a bargain considering the rate at other nearby properties. Shabby furniture, torn curtains, and poorly done repairs were difficult to overlook.

This is a motel, not a hotel or anything fancy. Your room faces the parking lot and you have a small room on the ground floor or second floor with a bathroom (that is a hotel). So as far as hotels go, we liked the location, the rooms were fine, the site was fine, coffee in the lobby and ice was available. Checking in and out was easy and parking was easy. We paid graduation weekend prices (2x normal), but that is to be expected in demand based pricing.

The fairly compact room was clean, tidy and easy to navigate, with an included table by the window that came in very handy. Shower looked recently remodeled, with nice hot water and decent pressure. Bed and pillows were more comfortable than expected for a motel-style property. The room included a microwave and fridge, and there was plenty of free parking in lot. Also, very good location right off freeway and close to downtown shopping.

For what looks like a standard motel, this place has little touches that punch above its weight. Friendly staff, good breakfast including good coffee, cute outdoor seating areas (chairs on balcony outside breakfast room, Adirondack under a tree, might even be some by the creek), local newspapers. We were able to walk Downtown (maybe 15-20 minutes), though there are also some nice restaurants just down the block.
