There is a wide beach frontage, with all the deck chairs and umbrellas, best thing to do bring your own floatie and beach chair and just float the day away in the beautiful water. If you swim in front of the Royal Hawaiian you might even see the turtles that were in the water when we visited, we were lucky enough that one popped up right next to us. Amazing experience, an absolute highlight of our visit.

Our hotel lent us towels and beach chairs. Before you settle on a spot, check out the far left as it has a man made shorebreak that makes the waves much less agressive and it was great for someone like me who doesn't like to be pushed around by the waves. There were many kids playing in the water because it was so calm. We went in May and the water was around 68 degrees. The sun is strong, I recommend you buy an umbrella at the ABC store of Longs they are around $20 and totally worth it. It was very hard to find a shady spot.

You're unable to see the beach from the street due to the extensive buildup of hotels. But you can walk through the hotels to get to it eventually. Kaulakaula Avenue is similar to Rodeo Drive in LA. The "mom & pop" shops on the side streets are closed. If you don't have a microwave, refrigerator or kitchenette you'll be paying "big bucks" for your food. There's a Safeway Grocery store for your food needs near to Waikiki beach. Traffic in the Beach area is heavy. If you don't have a map there are volunteers throughout the area who can direct you. I recommend the Ilima Hotel for your stay. It's 2 blocks away from the beach, reasonable, has limited free parking, 10 minutes from Safeway, and easy access to the H1.

A very beautiful beach, very relaxing, very scenic, boat docs and marinas, parks, nature trails, beautiful white sand, safe and enjoyable. They have luaus at various hotels along the beach and for a reasonable fee you can go to one, but we did not. The water is crystal clear and a beautiful tropical blue green tint appearance to it. This beach is a great place to go to relax and enjoy the scenery.

The Location is very walkable to Waikiki beach as well as food and shopping. We also walked to Honolulu zoo (5 minute walk from hotel). Parking included in the cost is a major win since most other hotels in the area charge $35-$50 dollars a day for parking. Having a full kitchen in the unit is great for families with kids who want to keep leftovers or cook meals to save cash. The separate bedroom from the pull out sofa (living room) allows for groups/families to stretch out and parents don’t have to fall victim to cartoons.
location is perfectly located at center of waikiki beach and all the shopping. The hotel has 2 great restaurants located inside serving local food and beer.
The location was so convenient - there are a lot of restaurants and stores nearby. The hotel is right in front of international marketplace and I could easily access to Waikiki beach. First floor bar was also very nice.
Very clean. Convenient location to restaurants, shops, food markets, bus stops, and Waikiki beach. The room was airy with an exceptional design that escaped the usual boxy feeling of hotel rooms.
I loved the location across the street from Waikiki beach. There are also many restaurants around (I personally recommend Barefoot Beach Cafe on the beach). The hotel has chairs and towels you can use for the beach which is great. They have free coffee every morning which was delicious. The staff were so helpful and recommended places to eat and things to do. I appreciated their recommendations that were not touristy.
Liked everything in this hotel! Staff are pleasant and always smiling, our room is super clean, and the swimming pool is super clean as well that the water is so clear! Location is near the waikiki beach and the Royal Hawaiian Center. Also liked that across the hotel is a public access to the beach which is not very crowded. We appreciated that they allow access to the washroom and on the eight floor even after we checked out while we are waiting for our flight. Hotel has luggage storage service too!
Couldn't ask for a better location, right accross the road from Waikiki beach. Room was just a standard hotel room. Service was good. Nice rooftop pool.
It was right on the beach, facing the ocean. had beautiful views of waikiki beach. close to shopping, ABC store next door, Eggs n Things at the bottom floor of the hotel.
While the hotel could use a little updating and DEFINITELY should add safety bars to their bathrooms, our corner room was large with great views of Diamond head, the ocean, and from the side downtown Waikiki (hint, request a corner room even though we had to pay a little more). The location is wonderful, just a half a block off Waikiki beach and close to the Duke statue, shopping, and everything Waikiki can offer.
The apartment was clean and serviced every second day.
Housekeeping was responsive. Location was as great with an ABC store just across the street and close to other shops within 5-10 minutes walk. Small pool but 7-10 minutes walk to Waikiki beach. Staff were all friendly. We would highly recommend this place. It was worth the money and they were able to accommodate for an early check in for a fee as our flight came in before 6am which helped a great lot. Thank you Luana team for making our stay comfortable and enjoyable.
