Clean, quiet and the onsen was great
The breakfast might be a bit expensive but it was really a good deal, tasty and various dishes.
Be aware that it's a bit far from the JR station (15min walking) and even if there are many izakaya around, it's not easy to identify the menu or even the izakaya/restaurant itself for foreign tourist.
note that at the entrance, you have to walk on tatami, no shoes allowed in the hotel.
Located just a 3-minute walk from JR Matsue Station, Matsue Excel Hotel Tokyu provides simple guest rooms fitted with modern amenities. Free in-room wired internet is provided.

The location was perfect — 2 blocks from Matsue Station, a 15 minute walk from Matsue Castle and the Art Museum, and with a convenience store around the corner. The staff were very accomodating (me, a non-Japanese speaker). The in-house coin laundry was handy (cost me only ¥300 to wash and dry). The shared bath made me want to spend more time in the hotel than out! The double room was plenty spacious for me as a solo traveller. I have no complaints and enjoyed my stay.

Loved the public bath that overlooks the water. And loved the breakfast. Room was spacious and comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless.

Fantastic location. Right outside Matsue station.
Bed was decent size and quite comfy. An alarm's integrated into the headrest.
Comes with a mini fridge.
Curtains were thick enough to block out the train station lights.

The location was excellent, steps away from the Matsue Castle and a short walk from the restaurant and downtown area. Although we took a taxi from Matsue Station, there is also a bus that comes to the end of the street and is very convenient.
Our host was excellent, very thoughtful and flexible. She gave us suggestions and recommendations and made us a reservation at a charming soba restaurant.
This is a perfect hotel for travellers coming to Matsue! It's less than 5 minutes' walk from Matsue Station and well-equipped with good facilities. The capsule room area is nice & quiet & there are big lockers for your luggage.
A Good location near the edge of the lake, around a 15 minute walk from Matsue station, and around the same for Matsue Shinjiko onsen station.
Around 5 minute walk to Matsue Castle.
A more traditional hotel, you'll need to take your shoes off at the enterance. Lockable Lockers are provided to store your shoes.
A Good size comfy room.
This is a very new hotel across the street from Matsue Station but to get there you go through an underpass. The spotlessly clean room was small but perfectly fine for a single person and there were a lot of electrical outlets. Although my window faced Matsue Station, it was very quiet. I really enjoyed the breakfast buffet which had quite a variety of food and drinks. The comfortable well lit eating area had several small tables and a long hightop table with stools. The public bath was a real nice addition.
The guesthouse is as clean as a home, and the manager of the guesthouse is such a nice person. He speaks English well, and communication with him was very easy. He even dropped us off at the Matsue Station on the last day. The toilets and the bathroom was always clean although the guesthouse was quite busy on our last two days.
The hotel is OK—there are many choices to eat for breakfast. The room I got is very clean. The location of the hotel is very close to the Matsue Station.
The breakfast was very good; the location was also good tho' a courtesy bus to Matsue Station would be nice.
Nobody told us that the excellent Lakeline Bus stopped just outside the hotel. We found out by ourselves!
Meals are expensive, and it might be useful to future visitors if you tell them that the "Shijimi-kan" about 150 metres west of the hotel has cheaper alternatives.
Unlike most hotels, the room toilet and bathroom were separate. That was wonderful!
