We really enjoyed our stay. While the room was small, we didn’t need anything more. It was spotlessly clean and had a nice bathroom with excellent hot water for showers. The views from our room and common areas were vast and stunning. Breakfast was really good each day. Staff were very kind and helpful. The northern lights wake up call is such a great perk! They knocked on our door to alert us to the lights, allowing us to relax but also see the aurora for the first time ever- very exciting and a beautiful experience! The location was convenient for visiting so many sights in the area. We would definitely stay again.
The family-run Vogafjos Guesthouse is in a unique natural environment on the eastern shore of Lake Myvatn. It has rooms with a patio and free Wi-Fi.

First of all wow the cottages were super cozy with floor warming. (I love that). Everything was nice and clean and the beds were comfy. There's not much else I can say about it no negative things. And then the main building wow. We were greeted by super enthusiastic staff and they were so friendly. They asked us about our vacation and our plans. And they even gave some good recommendations. Also when my friend her snow boots got torn up in the front and in the back they had DUCKTAPE :D. So she could fix it. Ducktape fixes anything. And you could pet the cows :D. Also a good recommender is the breakfast boi was it Tasty and most of the products were produced locally
Just an hour’s drive east of Akureyri, this wetland reserve is a hotbed of volcanic activity, from bubbling mud pits to lava formations. Myvatn Lake’s waters are a haven for wading birds, with more duck species found here than anywhere else on Earth. The lake’s name translates as ‘midge water’, and for good reason – be sure to bring insect repellent if you visit!

We went to several nature baths and this was the worse.
We went to several nature baths and this was the worse. It is a very old and dated facility (they are in the process of building a new facility) and it smelled horribly of sulphur. We stayed for 30 min total.

Rooms were very clean. Staff was wonderful. Plenty of shared bathrooms. Excellent breakfast and they went out of their way to provide gluten-free items for one of us who has celiac. Good location. National Park visitor center is across the road with a short walk through psuedo craters. Convenient to the Myvatn Nature Baths.
The location is great, just across from the visitor center and the lake Myvatn. The breakfast is wonderful. The milk is fresh and organic, coming from their own cows. The eggs are from the raised chickens. They have home made ice cream made from the fresh cows milking. I had opportunity to watch the cows’ milking process. We stayed for 3 nights to visit all the attractions nearby. We had the Myvatn nature baths after long days’ volcano hike not far away. The staff and owners are very friendly.
We had a great time staying here though we only stayed one night. As the hotel was over booked, and we were traveling with kids they helped us by arranging one extra bed in the room for free. The two restaurants on property were fine and we dined there for lunch and dinner. Myvatn nature baths were just 10 min drive from here. Overall we had a great stay.
The guesthouse has an excellent view of Lake Mývatn and Hverfjall, and is (of course) a great base to visit Dimmuborgir. The operator of the guesthouse, Maria, seemed genuinely friendly and helped get us a discount to the nearby Mývatn Nature Baths (which themselves are simply wonderful).
