Well situated in the centre of Suzhou, PACE HOTEL Suzhou Guanqian Branch offers air-conditioned rooms, a shared lounge, free WiFi and a restaurant. Special mention to the staff, who were super nice and helpful. They helped call a taxi as we didn’t know how, and even taught us how to call an Uber ourselves on the all-purpose WeChat. It was also very easy to communicate as they had a real-time voice translator that was very impressive. The place itself has nice decor and is super close to the metro line, which was very comfortable. Also, there’s a street nearby with plenty of nice places and restaurants.

Shangri-La Hotel Nanjing is located in the centre of vibrant Gulou District. Everything. The hotel is close to the Xuanwu Lake and in walking distance to the Xuanwu Gate. It’s easy to get in and out traffic wise but feel quieter than the Xinjiekou area. The hotel is newer than most peer group such as Westin and Hilton. The staff is very friendly and better quality than its peer group as well. The cleaning staff especially go out of their way to help. Their Chinese restaurant Jiangnan Zao is delicious. We stayed in three hotels (Westin, Hilton Riverside) in Nanjing on a recent trip and Shangrila is by far the best.
