Dating back to the 1600s, The Three Tuns is set overlooking Chepstow Castle. Our room was a little shabby, but knowing that this room was built 70 years after Henrik VIII chopped the heads of his wife s makes it understandable. So 10 points overall.

This historic inn offers great accommodation, excellent food, fine wines and real ales. The rooms and bathrooms at Bowl Inn have recently been refurbished, and all feature a Freeview TV. The room was lovely, and it was nice to have a bath as well as a shower. There was a good selection for breakfast - well cooked, and served with a smile by Susie There was a well stocked bar, and Adam the barman was most helpful and welcoming We had a small evening event in the bar and Betty and her team (especially Molly and Adam) looked after us really well The kitchen staff provided some super food - especially the pie, fish and chips, fish stew and peaches with cheescake. Thanks to all the team for making our stay so special..

Set in Bristol and within less than 1 km of Bristol Temple Meads Station, The Fox features a bar, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property. I am 80 years old and have had a few breakfasts in my time. I have never had a full English breakfast to compare with what I had at The Fox. The provenance of the eggs, the mushrooms and the sausages and the bacon were described, named farm by farm, by the host and I was so impressed that I decided on that breakfast instead of cereal. It was the best I've had in my life . I sent photographs to various family and friends to share its magnificence

Located in Thornbury and within 17 km of Bristol Parkway Station, The Anchor Inn features a garden, non-smoking rooms, and free WiFi throughout the property. It was a lovely surprise as it ticked all the boxes for charm, authentic pub feel, comfort, friendliness and good food. The bonus was to have a lovely walking path on the other side of the road!
