Featuring a garden, Meadow Lane Country Cottages is located 5 mi from Underberg, not far from Khotso Horse Trails. Each cottage at Meadow Lane has a fully-equipped kitchen. Some cottages are semi-detached and some are stand-alone cottages. The property offers catch-and-release bass fishing on site, as well as 2 kids kayaks. Activities for children include swings, trampolines and a short zip-line. The ponies can be fed but cannot be ridden.

Meadow Lane is a 13ha smallholding which we have lovingly owned since June 2013. Our family live at Meadow Lane and therefore are able to provide a person touch to our guests' experience. We have a wonderful team of staff that manage the vast grounds to ensure our guests have a beautiful garden to relax in.

Property info

Scott and Lesley, as well as twins Emily and Amber, welcome you to our little piece of heaven in the Berg. Meadow Lane Country Cottages offers tranquility amidst a park-like setting. Five self-catering cottages are surrounded by beautiful old trees and lively birds and peacocks! We love sharing this Drakensberg treasure with our guests who get to experience the wonders of the outdoors as well as a peaceful haven to relax and de-stress. The gem of Meadow Lane has got to be the small, but beautiful dam, home to ducks and an array of bird life! Catch and release fishing in the bass dam is welcome. This is a small dam so the more serious fisherman can purchase a permit at the fishing shop in town and they will then be placed on a suitable dam for a days fishing. We have 2 kids kayaks available to use on the dam, free of charge. We also have a short zipline and play area. Our Reception remains open during office hours and we work on an honesty system which allows guests the opportunity to help themselves to fishing rods, DVD's for hire, firewood, charcoal etc. Meadow Lane has its own airstrip, ideal for a weekend fly-away for light sport aircraft. Hangar hire available.

Neighborhood info

Meadow Lane is just 35km from Sani Pass. Underberg has many restaurants, the nearest being right next door to Meadow Lane! We are spoilt with the Underberg Cheesery on our doorstep just 1km away. A visit to the Cheesery is a must. Horse riding is available 2km from Meadow Lane. Guests can walk from Meadow Lane or on the various marked trails starting just 2km from Meadow Lane. These trails start and end at the Old Duck which offers a beautiful outdoor restaurant, perfect for a great cappuccino and hearty breakfast after an early morning walk. The Old Duck has a play area and animals for children to feed. Ezemvelo KZN Wildlife situated at the Drakensberg Hotel is the starting point of many Southern Drakensberg hikes and is located 20km from Meadow Lane. These hikes do not disappoint! The hotel allows day visitors and has a heated pool, mini-golf, adventure park, horse riding, restaurants and more. As we are situated 8km (10 minutes) from the center of Underberg town, stocking up on groceries at our local Superspar is convenient.
