Welcome to Monara Retreat Villa… a gorgeous and peaceful private villa located in a small Buddhist village 3.9 kilometers from the inviting Induruwa beaches. Enjoy the serenity of this protected bird sanctuary and lush jungle views as far as the eyes can see. Swim in the private pool, enjoy scrumptious Sri Lankan food prepared especially for you, meditate in the rich garden area, practice yoga or just sip some tea in one of the beautiful decks. Monara Retreat is ideal for discerning travelers.
I’m a holistic health care provider and teacher. I travel and teach all over the US, UK and Sri Lanka. We spend 3 to 4 months of the year at our retreat home. The rest of the time we are in the United States with a wonderful and trusted house manager who is on call for you 24/7 and lives just 2 kilometers away. We are reachable via text and airbnb messaging.
Monara Retreat House is located in the small and sweet Buddhist village of Gonagala. You can walk to the village for food supples or ride bicycles or tuk tuk just 4 kilometers down the road for restaurants. We have three bicycles that you are welcome to use. And our Villa manager Raju can give you a lift wherever you might wish to go at local pricing in his tuk tuk (3 wheeler with carriage). Galle road is 3.9 kilometers away and you can catch buses there in any direction. The Aluthgama and Bentota railway stations are 10 to 15 minutes drive away. Colombo is 1.5 to 2 hours away, and the international airport is 2 hours away. Cars can be arranged for pickup and drop off with 24 hours notice.
