Housed in a 51-year-old, self-renovated building, this two-story steel structure spans 160 square meters and accommodates up to 12 guests. It offers a spacious retreat with interiors that uniquely blend the building's history and creative DIY craftsmanship. The name "Karasuya" symbolizes a place where travelers can "freely roam and rest their wings like a crow." To support each guest's sense of freedom, we provide various spaces tailored to different needs and encourage all to embrace their preferred way of staying. As part of this vision, we kindly ask guests to observe our 11 PM lights-out policy for a peaceful night. The guesthouse features three distinct rooms, each with its own unique character. As a backpacker, I have traveled to over 30 countries, staying in countless guesthouses around the world. Within Japan, I have continued my travels and gained hands-on experience working as a helper at guesthouses, particularly in Kyushu. Inspired by these experiences, I decided to create a space in my hometown of Takasaki where travelers and locals alike can come together, spend time freely, and exchange ideas and stories. With eight years of professional experience in the corporate world, I’ve also designed this guesthouse to accommodate those who might need a space for work-related purposes.
