Holiday Home Bakšaj is a typical Dalmatian house built of stone. Like many others houses in the village it used to be the local fisherman's home, with the whole family living in just two rooms, each one on a separate floor. The third floor was added later, as well as the bathroom. When you enter the house, the bathroom will be on your right and you will step into the kitchen/dining room. It isn't very big but contains everything which is necessary to prepare a good meal. The stairs will take you to the first floor, where there is a room which can serve both as a living room and a bedroom. The sofa can be used as a bed for two people. There is a TV here. On the third floor there are two rooms; a small one containing a bed and a clothes rack and a bigger one with three beds, two of which can be unfolded. There is a nice view of the harbour from one of the windows in this room. What we like about the house is the tranquility it offers, as if the time has stopped, or you have left all your worries behind. And that is the true spirit of a holiday home, isn't it?

I am a teacher of English and German with a long career both in teaching adults and secondary school children. Both my husband and me have always enjoyed spending summers at the seaside so, when the opportunity appeared we decided to grab it and buy the house from a lady architect who had put a lot of effort into renovating an old fisherman's house. Since then we have also made a lot of changes and are constantly trying to keep the house "in shape" which is sometimes very difficult owing to the fact that it stands so close to the sea and is exposed to its effects. We think it is important to preserve such old houses since they are a part of our heritage and culture. My husband has been in trade most of his professional life. We have two children, a daughter who has graduated in German and French from Zagreb University and a son who is a student of Economics at the same University.

We are surrounded by neighbours who are also keen on preserving such old houses as ours. It is a nice neigbourhood where you can often hear people laughing, having food together (mostly seafood or barbecue) or just sitting at the seafront and watching boats. What makes this place special is the fact that there are no cars on the island. Hopefully, there won't be any in the future, since it is a small island and you can enjoy walking or cycling between the two villages on the island. If there is a south wind, take a walk to Šepurine on the other side and enjoy sunbathing and swimming at its pebble beaches. However, when there is a "bura" wind, it is better to stay in Luka and take a swim around its south-eastern tip. For those who want to rent a boat, there are plenty of opportunities to explore the Šibenik archipelago with many hidden coves and spots. Prvić is a quiet but not deserted Island. In Prvić Luka there are several places to go out. The restaurants often organise music nights with live performers and the inhabitants of the village sometimes sing folk songs in the main square. For those interested in heritage and culture there is a Faust Frančić memorial museum, where you will find out about a renaissance man who invented a parachute and to whom we owe a multilingual dictionary dating back to the end of the 16th c. So, there is plenty for everyone.
