A 4-story villa dating back to 1882, St Benedict - Victorian Bed and Breakfast embraces a 19th-century theme, with characterful period details and retaining its original Victorian layout. This St Leonards guest house offers free parking and Wi-Fi, and serves a country house-style full English breakfast. With authentic furnishings of the era, guest rooms at St Benedict have a comfortable double bed and tea and coffee facilities. Each has a private external bathroom with a roll-top bath. The full English breakfast is served in the dining room from silver dishes, in the manner of a Victorian country house. Evening meals can also be provided on request. St Leonards also has a number of recommended restaurants within a short walk of the guest house. Guests can take tea on the lawn in summer, or enjoy the roaring fire in the drawing room in winter. A large walled garden has a pond, summerhouse and even a tranquil chapel. The East Sussex resort of St Leonards is just over a mile from neighboring Hastings, home of Hastings Museum and Art Gallery and the famous Norman castle. Bexhill is just over 5 miles away, counting the iconic 1930s De La Warr Pavilion theater and arts venue among its attractions.

This is the most exceptional place I've ever been! It's a preserved home from 1880, full of art and texture. It's as close as you can come to being transported back in time. I would say it's part museum, part bed and breakfast.

It was like a museum and our grandson was allowed to ring the gong and play the piano. The breakfast was wonderful and the gardens were beautiful. Our hosts were so gracious and gave us lots of info about the place and the area. Loved our stay.

We have carefully restored the house to its original 1880s layout and use, using entirely period wallpapers, decorative objects d'art and antique furniture, down to the smallest detail, including bathrooms. All rooms are furnished in high Victorian style, and the house has the feel of a living museum. There are also servant's quarters with pantry scullery and kitchen with a service lift and a speaking tube to the dining room.
Stephen and Paul have spent 20 years returning the house to its original configuration, decorating it and filling it with period objects. Great care has been taken over the artistic style of each room, so that guests can enjoy a unique experience of stepping back in time.
St.Leonards was established in the Regency period as a purpose built seaside resort, and was expanded in the 1880s when St.Benedict was built. It is now both a holiday resort and a centre for artists, with a growing number of galleries and vintage/antique shops. The gracious architecture of the area is an attraction, as is the proximity to the English Channel.
