Company information

Kirstie & I moved to Cornwall in 2017, Kirstie had been away for over 30 years & wanted to return as well as leave the rat race behind. We looked at different businesses including pubs, café’s & village stores but none of these felt right! We found a field just outside St Keverne, a village Kirstie spent many a childhood summer visiting grandparents & family & the seed of Cedarwood was planted. We then spent 2017 setting up the Cedarwood camping pod site. Once we had obtained planning permission, (which was no easy task!!) in early October, Kirstie & I together with Ray, the local 74yr old JCB driver, installed mains water and electricity supply and a sewerage treatment system to provide our bespoke pods with all the services required to ensure we had a unique product. Our aim, to give our guests the type of accommodation we would be happy to stay in ourselves. We wanted to create a site where no matter your age you can enjoy the experience of camping without the need for bringing a car full of equipment or doing the "walk of shame" to a shower & toilet block first thing in the morning or the middle of the night! Cedarwood has now been open over 5 years & we have welcomed well over 1000 groups of guests & we still get guests saying our pods look brand new, which is music to our ears as we both work very hard in keeping our pods in top condition. We have had a wide range of visitors from several different countries including The Netherlands, Germany, Italy, Canada, The USA, France & Singapore as well as the UK. We've welcomed walkers, (lots of short stays whilst walking the Southwest coast path), we've had bird watchers, astronomers, as well as couples & small families just wanting a beaching holiday or a short break.

Property information

Welcome to Cedarwood holidays - a peaceful rural retreat with a bit of luxury. Here you have your own comfortable, self-contained cosy pod – situated in our 1 acre meadow surrounded by trees, wild flowers, birdsong, quiet lanes and footpaths, plus dark skies at night for star-gazing. We are Kirstie and Joe - friendly and available whenever you need us but otherwise leaving you in peace and privacy to enjoy relaxation, adventure, exploration and inspiration from the natural rural environment and fabulous coast paths and beaches of the unique Lizard peninsula. Our pods are  designed with comfort in mind with an en-suite shower-room, a kitchenette, with microwave, fridge, kettle, toaster & t.v, (NO HOB, OR OVEN) each pod has its own free wi-fi for those who wish to stay connected & the central heating means they are are not only great through the summer months but perfect for those cosy winter nights too. Each pod has its own wooden decked area, a picnic table/bench and a barbecue.  In the meadow we have a ‘round house’ (or open stone circle) with fire pit and log seating which you are welcome to use. (logs provided at no extra cost).

Neighbourhood information

We are located in SW Cornwall on the unique Lizard Peninsula  half a mile from the thriving village of St Keverne where you will find two great pubs, The White Hart & The Three Tuns, a village store, butcher/deli, post office & bus route into Helston. Roskilly’s Organic Ice-cream farm lies 200 metres along the lane, where you can enjoy a walk around the ponds, meadows & woods, visit the animals, or enjoy breakfast or a meal in the Croust House followed by one of their famous Ice creams which are produced on site. Due to our favourable location there are several beaches within a short drive including Kennack Sands, Kynance Cove, Gunwalloe (Church Cove), Poldhu Cove & Mullion to name a few. Our nearest beach is just over a mile away in the fishing village of Coverack, kayak’s, wind surfing & paddle boards can be hired & the harbour wall is ideal for sit
