Recently we, Tom and Sieta Plantinga, may call ourselves the happy owners of Les Magnolias. After a thorough orientation and search of two years throughout France, we found our spot “in the Dordogne. In September 2015 we settled here permanently. The beautiful location on the outskirts of Lalinde with all amenities within walking distance, the overwhelming view of the river with it’s ever-changing water, the presence of the large park garden, the swimming pool (17 x 7 m) overlooking the river surrounded by palm and olive trees and the 400-meter riverside makes this for us a unique location. We want to offer our guests a pleasant stay at Les Magnolias. Not only as a central base to explore the region, but also to relax and totally unwind.We want our guests to have a relaxing and enjoyable stay. Our Maison de Maitre, a romantic riverside mansion from the 18th century, has recently been renovated into a boutique style chambre d’hotes accomodation. The adjacent building was used as a wine warehouse (chai) and is now converted into a holiday home complex. Les Magnolias is our dream come true. We have four generous guest rooms for our B & B guests and six tastefully furnished holiday homes. Just 200 metres from Les Magnolias you will find a large supermarket where you can get all your daily needs including your English newspaper. From Les Magnolias it is less than a 10-minute walk to the main square of the typical bastide town of Lalinde. Lalinde is a charming region center with friendly and helpful people and many facilities and activities. There is a tourist office, a pleasant shopping street ,an old town center, supermarkets, restaurants, banks, post office, bike rental 400 meter, cafes, terraces, delicatessen and wine shop. Every week on Thursday and Saturday morning there is a market with something for everyone. Within a circle of 20 minutes by car, you will find restaurants in all price ranges, by a good 3 course meal for 20 euros to high-level gastronomy.

Vineyards and bastide towns are the two jewels of the Purple Périgord, situated to the south-west of the département. Standing in the heart of these famous vineyards is the town of Bergerac. The old town of Bergerac has retained much of its 14C, 15C and 16C architecture, including many half-timbered houses. The fortified towns known as bastides ( Monpazier, Beaumont de Périgord, Eymet and Lalinde)bear witness to the conflict between the French and English which took place in the Périgord from the 12C onwards. Les Magnolias is located in the tourist heart (the golden triangle) of the Dordogne and offers the ideal base to explore the surrounding area. Within an hour you will be at the top sites and attractions! The Dordogne is without any doubt the nicest and most diverse region in France, famous for it’s stunning scenery, prehistoric caves and dwellings, medieval towns & villages, fortified castles and strongholds, bastides, and the list goes on and on.. and Ooohhh let’s not forget it’s friendly people, delicious cuisine, excellent wine,festivals, cozy markets and all the activities you can imagine… the word “bored” does not exist in the Dordogne dictionary.
