Located in Puerto Viejo, 200 metres from Negra Beach, Pagalù Hostel provides accommodation with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace. The room excited my expectations, it was big, clean and the bed was comfortable. I found it nicer than the pictures. The common areas were very nice and the kitchen was great (probably the best kitchen I've had at a hostel). As a solo traveller I found it easy to meet people at the hostel. There's a big supermarket just across the street and an even bigger one just a few minutes away. It is not on the main street, so it's very calm and quiet at night, but it is close enough so you don't feel uncomfortable walking back in the dark, however would always recommend walking with someone if you can. It is close to restaurants, stores, busstation and the beach.

Arcari Garden Hostel is located just 400 metres from Tortuguero National Park, just a few steps from the sea shores and features free WiFi access is available in all areas. The staff was very nice and helpful. There is plenty of space with sofas and hammocks if you want to chill for a day. The rooms are good with comfortable beds. We booked all tours at the hostel and not in advance. It worked well and the guide was 10/10. They also arranged transfers.

Roots Family features accommodation in Puerto Viejo near Negra Beach and Cocles Beach. Boasting a shared kitchen, this property also provides guests with a terrace. More than wonderful! The beds were super comfortable with mosquito nets, curtains and individual storage cabins. The atmosphere is very friendly and relaxed, it is so clean that everyone is walking barefoot in the hostel. Everything is well maintained, the staff is friendly and helpful. I already made a booking for the next time I'm staying in Puerto Viejo.

I loved the hospitality with which they treat you, as if you were family. They have dogs and cats and they are adorable! The beds and communal facilities are very good. There are also yoga classes and you can try soaking in an ice bath session 🤪
