I loved the location, the vibe of the hostel and the friendlyness of the staff. Bethany was especially friendly and made my stay enjoyable. I stayed two nights in the 4 bed dorm and one night in the Private Queen. I'm 1.91m tall and the bed in the dorm was a bid short for my taste (couldn't stretch out), but the private queen room on the main floor is awesome. It has a comfortable bed and a huge bathroom.

The staff is very kind, the place is clean, comfortable and quiet. They offer many complimentary things that hostels don't usually offer. If I come back I'm absolutely choosing this place again.

Set in a restored jailhouse, this Ottawa hostel is adjacent to the Ottawa Convention Centre and Rideau Centre Mall. It features rooms with free Wi-Fi and serves a daily continental breakfast. Cool hostel! Good location, city centre 7mins walking (shopping centre right there as well). Good break from typical hostels. Had a single cell. It was clean, big kitchen, good breakfast (bagels, cheese, jams, coffe, fruit, eggs). Luggage storage available too. Only thing I missed in the room was a small shelf, otherwise it was all good. There is a special acoustics as it was a prison but my floor wasn't loud. Recommended!

Located within downtown Toronto, this student co-op lends rooms out to the public throughout the summer. The hotel is an 8 minutes" walk from the Dundas TTC subway station. Neill Wycik is in an excellent location in central Toronto while being quite reasonable. I had stayed here about a decade ago and was happy to see that it is still an option during the summertime in Toronto. While they no longer have a parking option, I found a municipal parking garage on Queen Street East for $8 from 6 pm to 7am each night. This was probably the most economical parking in the area. I alternated between this parking garage and Warden Station on the metro line (which cost $4 per day, but not between 2 am and 5 am) ..so $12/day plus gas spent driving between the two parking garages. Anyhow, expect to stay in a dorm room.. Mine was "compact" but there was a kitchen/dining area across the hall.
