Now my second time and my go for place to stay on this beautiful island. i enjoy the tatami room, but also there is one room with a western bed. a kitchen with everything what is needed to prepare food and tea / coffee. I hope you enjoy this place like I do.

Beautiful artistic vibe of the place, stunning view of Sakurajima. Love the room decor and atmosphere of the whole building - was a little jarring at first, but the longer I was there, there more appreciative of the little details and the work rhats gone in. It was like staying in an art gallery.

This place is so special - a beautiful building run by wonderful women who were so friendly and welcoming. They even shared some homemade umeshu with us which was so kind. I had a big room to myself and even though the sound carries through the building, everyone was quiet and respectful so I slept very well. I would love to come back.

We spent great moments here. Inside the house, it is pretty warm. There are coffee beans and everything ready for us to make a hand drip coffee. I can’t wait to make one cup. The coffee taste so good and smooth, maybe this is selected beans. I connected the Bluetooth speaker and playing Mayumi Itsuwa’s songs. Music harmonized with the lovely chalet interior, the atmosphere is so relaxing and immersive. Kihara-san is very nice. The Shinyu Onsen he recommended is gorgeous. The hot spring water is wonderful. It is milky-white, so natural and so great. I guess it come from a sulphur spring. In the daytime, we hiked around Onamiike and Ebino Plateau. The crater lake is amazing and there are great views along the trails. At night, we do BBQ in front of the chalet. We rent a Charcoal Konro Grill set, it is really convenient. We bought some Japanese Wagyu beef for yakiniku from supermarket near Kirishima. The beef is yummy, really delicious.

Amazing breakfast (900 yen per person), highly recommended. Nice bathroom and bathtub. Beds meant to fit one person fit two. Staff helped us finding an ATM that works for international credit cards and a restaurant where we could pay with an international credit card.

We had the kindest and most welcoming host ever! We were treated like family. It was a kind of home that we never thought we would encounter in our travels. There's a heart to this place which represents the soul of the island in general. Can't wait to visit there again!

I enjoyed my stay in Sunrise homestay as the place was clean and comfortable. The host was also very hospitable and generous. There were snacks and shoju on the house! I witnessed the most beautiful sunrise here. We celebrated his birthday with other roommates during my stay. Looking forward to come back here again!
