This was a nicely put together guest house, lots of common space, free tea and coffee, and really comfortable beds! The host was very informative and speaks excellent English if your Japanese isn't up to snuff. The town is very small, but easily washable to the historic center. All residents were very welcoming and friendly!

Minshuku Yomoshirou, hotel in Shirakawa

Located in the historical world heritage site of Ainokura village, Minshuku Yomoshirou offers Japanese-style accommodations in a traditional Gassho-style house with thatched roofs.

Kuni and Noriko were delightful hosts and the meals they served were 5 stars. The best food we've had in Japan. It was a very comfortable sleep, a great shower room, and all meticulously clean. We loved our stay in their home. Ainokura was beautiful and don't miss the little museum in the village.

Loved the style of the house. It almost felt like a cozy homestay with all amenities in place. There were scrapbooks with all information about the village which was very helpful and thoughtful of the host. Everything in the fridge was free for the guests to have and there were plenty of options. The location is just 10mins walk from the main bus station and the supermarket is just across the street. Loved the place!

The kitchen is amazing and there is free tea and coffee, and if you’re not wanting to venture out for a meal there’s noodle packets and snacks for a VERY cheap price! Common area is lovely and spacious :)

A few minute walk going to Shirakawago Village itself. Perfect location for people who like walking to admire the vicinity and coming home to a homestay that is kind of secluded from the busy establishments.
