You can hear the waves while you sleep. Located right in the middle of Mompiche. The owner was extremely accommodating, helpful and made you feel very welcome. He helped me with everything from surfboard rental to bus schedules to and from Mompiche. Only place I’ve been to in Ecuador with a mosquito net around the bed which I appreciate. Can’t beat the price and I’ll definitely be staying here again when I come back to surf the point 🤙

Quinta El Mamey is a recently renovated guest house in Río Verde, where guests can make the most of its garden and bar. Fernando and Belinda made me feel so welcome and I got to have experiences in Esmeraldas that I was not able to have anywhere else. The food was incredible and I loved running on the beach right outside their property. One day I ended up running for two hours! The natural beauty of the area coupled with eating many different fruits and foods that I have never tried before made this an unforgettable experience.

I was very happy with my stay here; set in a private garden with hammocks and outside kitchen, this room was clean, safe and quiet and just steps from the heart of the village and the sea. There's a friendly member of staff onsite too if you have any issues or questions. Most of the budget rentals in Mompiche are constructed from bamboo but Ocean Surf is solidly constructed, so this is definitely the best choice if you are a light sleeper; you won't be kept awake by the music, dogs and cockerels! I have already made plans to return.

Hostal Aruba is located in Atacames and features a plunge pool and pool views. It is set 100 metres from Atacames Beach and offers full-day security. I had a great time at the hostal, the owners where really nice and Atacames is a very nice town with a little bit of everything. My room was very clean and it was nice to have airconditioning at night. The breakfast there is very good! At the end the owner even took me to the busstation with his car! All in all I can really recommend it!
