It was lovely going into the property with all its character, the lovely wide stairs, the ever so friendly dogs and Sue, who made the stay so enjoyable. She is as characterful as her lovely house. The bed was very comfy and we had a great nights sleep. Sues recommendations as to where to eat were spot on and we couldn’t fault this place. We normally stay in a hotel chain if we are travelling up north, but this stay has made us realise that we love a bit of character and will be hopefully staying in places with like this in the future.
The Roundthorn Country House and luxury self-catering Mews Apartments are set in landscaped gardens, with panoramic views of the Eden Valley and Lakeland Fells.

The staff couldn't do enough to help us - my wife had a migraine on our day of arrival and they allowed us to check in 4-hours early so she could sleep through it. This act of kindness and empathy saved our short weekend break. Throughout the stay we were asked how she was doing - again above and beyond, the personal touch.
The location, with its commanding views across Penrith to the Lakeland Fells, quietly rural yet close proximity to. Penrith.
We had a self catering apartment, which was perfect for the two nights we stayed. Options to dine on site, or go into Penrith. Having the two rooms (living room/kitchen & bedroom) gave us space when we needed it, particularly the first day with the migraine.

Beacon View was just 5 minutes from Penrith town but in the country so very peaceful and quiet. Set on a beautiful property where we enjoyed watching the sunset. Our friends and I enjoyed our stay, the house was well equipped and was super clean and nice and warm with the heating. Host was very accommodating and great with communication.

The host Adam was very friendly and greeted us as soon as we parked up. The room itself was very spacious and the view was amazing. The breakfast was very tasty and the lemon cake that was made for us was fabulous aswell. Would definitely recommend.

We particularly liked the location - the veiws from the property are spectacular
When the accommodation is just as important as the destination, a five-star stay should give that extra ‘wow’ factor as you enter the lobby. As well as offering the kind of service to make you feel like royalty, you’ll usually find highly rated on-site spas, gourmet restaurants and top-of-the-line beds you won’t want to get out of.
Did not eat breakfast, wasn't included
The hospitality was 5 Stars, we even changed rooms with owner's consent, and we were able to keep both heater's in our room! LOL! Property was very clean and being a listed building, a little ornamental. Beds were comfortable.
We were happy with our stay overall.
Absolutely stunning barn. Attention to detail was amazing. Lots of little extras scattered throughout the barn; from a welcome doggie bag, to sweets, biscuits, toiletries, marshmallows, fully equipped kitchen, warm water shower for dogs. AMAZING- 5 Stars!!!!!
A comfortable bed, hot shower above a lively pub ,
If you want an early night and 5 star luxury pay the money and stay elsewhere, if you want a clean comfortable room and a few pints with the locals then the Castlegate ticks the box
Great location. The Brantwood is a small unpretentious hotel. Very comfortable with delightful staff Don’t expect 5* luxury or Michelin starred chefs - just a nice hotel run by good people. At a very reasonable price.
Couldn't give this properly less than 5 stars. it has everything you would need for a comfortable stay, and ideally situated to explore the lake district. Beautifully clean and fresh.
This accommodation was the perfect stopover place, Andy the host even sorted out my car problem ! The room had everything I needed, I would definitely stay here again . 5 stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
