Located on the Ile d’Oleron, the Hotel Île De Lumière offers direct access to the beach. It has an outdoor swimming pool, a tennis court and many other facilities. The location is picture perfect, literally. It is on the western coast of the island, so if there is a sunset, you would see it. On our days, it was rainy, but that simply brought a different kind of beauty. The beaches were mostly empty - we had them to ourselves. There are several ways to get to the beach below, and all are an easy, short walk. Yet, the hotel is elevated, so you have a lovely view of the coastline. The room was light and airy, and very clean. There is plenty of storage space, and a nice shower with plenty of pressure. The bed was very comfortable, and there were room darkening curtains. The hotel was full when we were there, but it was still quiet. Breakfast is not included, but we found it to be worth the price. There was a lot of variety in the pastries offered, along with cheese, meat, boiled eggs, cereal, and fruit. We would recommend this place, and would stay again.

What a fantastic place and super hosts that took good care of us. It was last minute booking but everything was great. The room was so nice and many little things that reminded us of the ocean. The breakfast was very good and we for the first time had scrambled eggs made fresh by Eric.. ooo la la .

What a great find! I was so pleased with this apartment, it was just what we needed for a stop-off. Lovely decor, very comfortable, well equipped and a great host who was very helpful. Good location, walking distance to the beach and restaurants.
