Great stay in an amazing ryokan with incredible onsen. Ikaho is a very serene and scenic town and the locals were very kind and welcoming. Featuring a spacious indoor hot spring bath and a rooftop outdoor one, as well as karaoke rooms, table tennis and, Mimatsukan offers relaxation and entertainment in the heart of the Ikaho hot spring... What did I like about Mimatsukan? Honestly I loved everything! To start with, it had a homely and traditional atmosphere that was really special. Even though the staff didn't speak much English, they were incredibly friendly and did their best to make our stay enjoyable. It really felt like we were getting an authentic experience of Japanese culture, and it was one of the biggest highlight of our month long trip. The open-air onsen was absolutely beautiful and serene, and it was a great way to relax and unwind after a long day of exploring the area. I also enjoyed the sweet, cozy feel of the rooms, which added to the overall homely feel of the ryokan. The breakfast was absolutely phenomenal! I couldn't get enough of the delicious food, and it really left a lasting impression on my taste buds. Another great thing about staying at this ryokan was knowing that I was helping the local economy. By staying in an area that has been affected by the lack of tourism in Japan due to COVID-19, I felt good to supporting local businesses. If you're looking for a great place to eat nearby, I highly recommend checking out the restaurant called きっちん 志家, which is just around the corner. The food was amazing, and it was a great addition to my overall experience in Ikaho Onsen. Overall, I loved my stay at this ryokan and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic and memorable experience. From the homely and traditional atmosphere to the beautiful open-air onsen and phenomenal breakfast, it had everything I was looking for and more.
