Well set in the Kita Ward district of Kyoto, Guesthouse Bon is located 2.4 km from Kinkaku-ji Temple, 2.9 km from Kitano Tenmangu Shrine and 3.5 km from Kyoto Imperial Palace. I had the loveliest time at Guesthouse Bon! The twin room was traditional with a futon and sitting pillows, and beautiful rice paper doors to a small terrace. The common area was a nice place to have breakfast, and the kitchen had all the needed amenities. Shower and toilets outside worked very well and gave you privacy. In addition, I loved the location: the neighborhood was quiet and beautiful and it was easy to get around the city with bus and metro. I went to a nearby sento a couple times and enjoyed it a lot!

It's stunning and taken care of to the minimum detail. Ken Kun House is not only beautiful but also very comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need and more and the beds are super comfortable. I would come back again for sure, actually, I wish I could live there! The house is also very easy to reach by public transport, we took the bus every day. There are delicious bakeries in the area and supermarkets!

Kinkakuji is very close, so you could be there before being crowded. The owner is a nice and helpful guy.

Every single corner! The hotel was just perfect, I found out about it by coincidence and couldn’t not take a room and enjoy at least a day before I leave Kyoto. If you want to experience the stay in traditional Japanese house, this is a place that should not be missed. It is very comfortable, super clean, has a deep tab for soaking after long walks in Kyoto and the main highlight is the dinner prepared by sushi master right in front of your eyes. It is truly Michelin star quality, burst with flavors and endless. The breakfast is amazing too. The place is not far from nearest metro station and the host was very kind to give us a lift. He also brought us to bamboo forest in the morning and gave a tour of the area nearby. 御苦労様。

The owner picked us up from the subway, helped with our luggage, personally took us to the property, showed us all the facilities, explained in detail where and how to get to the sights. An incredible person, responsive, had left tourist maps and directions for everything in the apartment and outside. Thank you! Of all our stays in Japan, this was the best place!!!
