  „Everything is amazing in this hotel. The rooms are incredibly nice, they get cleaned like 3 times a day, and the bed is ridiculously big. You have your private balcony to overlook the gorgeous scenery so you really feel at home. The staff is very attentive and very friendly. The design of the hotel is very calming, the atmosphere is relaxing, the scenery awesome. The breakfast buffet is both the largest, and the best quality that I have ever experienced. Different fresh juices, great bread, great tiny croissants & other pastries, a lot of fresh fruit, even passion fruits, and also many hearty options - and aside from that you can order one awesome extra dish from the breakfast menu, complementary! Absolutely the best breakfast ever. The evening meal is also very nice - if you will it's somewhat standard, but with local ingredients such as pomegrenade, dates, figs, honey... The wines are pretty expensive so we didn't try them(drinks are not included). Summer is actually a perfect time to visit - the temperature is about 10 degrees less hot than the rest of Oman - at least when we were there in August.“

That being said, from this hotel it takes only 20 min walking to get to the suk in Muttrah (the old city) and from there you can take a bus to visit the old Sultan palace. In addition, down the road there is a big mall/supermarket, 10 minutes by foot or less.“

We did it ourselves and got stuck in the end because our tyres were not deflated. We were the only guests as the season came to an end and really loved the experience. The caretakers were very friendly, the tents and bedding comfortable and the serenity was great. We had dinner at the Oryx camp and the contrast was big with a lot of tour groups and concrete huts. After that, back in our camp, they lighted a fire just for us. For the real desert experience with private bathroom and nice beds, go for this camp.“
