"Location was beautiful and very quiet. Tons of tropical plants and flowers, with friendly cats and a dog that belong to the family and wander the property. You can see agutis and colorful birds. The pool was very clean and pretty, although we didn't use it since we are so close to the black sand beach here! There are several other cabina-style properties down this little dirt road, but every one of them feels isolated and private once you cross the gates because they all have huge tropical plants bordering them. There are 2 bars within very easy walking distance at the entrance of the road overlooking the beach, and we had fantastic dinners at the Reggae Bar on several of our nights there. There's also a small convenience store. This property is a short distance from the "downtown" area of Cahuita, but it's an easy bike ride or a nice walk to get to shops and tons of other dining options. This is not a huge tourist area, so not everyone speaks a ton of English, but they are perfectly kind and patient while you struggle through your Spanish with them. Margot makes amazing coffee every morning at the cabinas, and you can get a delicious breakfast al fresco from her or you can cook for yourself in the outdoor kitchens on the front porch of every set of rooms, which are actually really well-equipped and include a fridge, sink, dishes and utensils, and propane burners. These cabinas are a fantastic value, and they get cleaned and tidied once you head out for the day. There are tables and hammocks out on the porches, and even when you catch a torrential tropical downpour, it's warm enough to sit out in shorts and play cards by candlelight. There are screens, fans, and mosquito nets. The shower heads heat the water to comfortable temperature, although we did suffer through a couple cold ones before we figured out that there's a switch on the shower head that turns on the heating element. Can't say enough good things!"
