Facilities are clean. The kitchen is big, the restaurant serves good food (cocktails not so good). The staff at the front desk are very friendly.

The property and staff were great. The property is beautiful, no monkeys stealing your food...maybe a bird or two will try. Friendly dogs welcome you. There are many bathroom facilities on the premises. They have a braai (bbq) every evening at 6p. You get your very own refrigerator in the kitchen area and not a tiny hotel room size, very convenient since it is a self-catering backpacker's lodge. They have an air fryer. The staff were very helpful with anything I needed. The owner arranged for us to have food catered at a reasonable rate.
The place was so nice I decided to get my diver's certification!! IT was incredible!
I would definitely stay again!

This is a very well established lodge and everything worked well for us - is well maintained and owners are clearly committed to keeping it going at a high standard. Very friendly staff. It is quite 'down to earth' and does not try to impress with the more gimmicky approaches some places go for. We enjoyed watching the buck and the families of monkeys playing in the grass areas.

Our time at Sodwana Bay was just what we needed! The diving was fantastic, as usual. There's so much to see underwater, from vibrant coral to curious marine life—it never gets old. For the family, the beach was perfect. The water was warm, which meant the kids could spend hours swimming without getting chilly. Plus, the currents weren't too strong, which made it safe and enjoyable for the little ones to splash around. It was a great mix of adventure and relaxation for everyone.

Sodwana is very small, basically one Road where all the eateries and little beach shops are based and then the beach and wetland park! A few days are more than enough giving you time to explore all there is to offer and do some diving as that is what Sodwana is most famous for!
We arrived on Friday and left Monday and felt we had enough time to do everytjing we wanted to and explore all the beauty and adventure available.
Seasoned divers may want to stay longer though.
We dined at Mseni - excellent food, as well as Mguni restaurant who also served great food. EAT restaurant has a quirky interior and good meal options but our favourite was The Tree with their massive Burgers and large menu on offer.

We are regular visitors to rustic Sodwana Bay for the spectacular diving - it is a divers paradise!, After our 1st visit a number of years ago we made a point of getting there at least once a year. Now we have relocated to the KZN North Coast and this is our 4th trip to Sodwana within a year.

The accommodation and location is great, very clean and quick access to the beach, if you have a 4x4 you can drive on the beach with a permit. The food at the resort was great just service too a long time.
This accommodation is NOT wheelchair friendly as you have to park at reception and walk all the way to the rooms. Phone signal is very poor in this area and WiFi is not available in the rooms, so communication is a problem with reception or anywhere else.

We went to Sodwana for Diving.
We went to Sodwana for Diving. The diving was good, the Dive Charter not. Next time we will use another Charter. Sodwana is a good get away from city life because of the remote and rustic environment. Back to nature and very peaceful.
