The name says it all. What makes Riverview exceptional is the view of Crocodile River and Kruger. All the staff were excellent, including the young man who made us breakfast at 4.45 on one morning.

The room we were initially offered was not fit for habitation. Our next room on first impression seemed better but we found it had mouldy shower recess, no hot water, broken blinds and window coverings, no phone , a non functioning power point so no hair dryer and chipped outdoor furniture.. We did not get what we paid for and when bought to management’s attention all we got were excuses. A very disappointing stay and definitely not worth the money.

The place is in a very quiet location overlooking the crocodile river which I enjoyed the most. The food was nice too, with friendly staff/guest house workers always going the extra mile just to make our stay comfortable. I wouldn't mind going back there again in future.

Easy access and quick access.
Easy access and quick access. We went off season but had pre-booked with SANParks, so a word of warning, don't pre-book unless it's high season to guarantee access. It doesn't specify this when booking, so we thought we were paying the conservation fees.
You're free to roam around in your own vehicle and don't need an off-roader. There is an abundance of wildlife so you don't even need to stay for 3 days. We went for 2 hours on our own and saw elephants, rhinos, 'pumbas' and impalas.
The toilets are few and far between so either go when you find them or you'll have to do it at the side of the road...without straying into the Bush.
We then went for a full day with a guide who knows the area better and took us to the watering holes we probably would've never found on our own, where giraffes, wildebeest, hippos and elephants were all hanging out.
A note about Malaria: we read that malaria was found around Kruger and had conflicting advice about taking anti-malaria tablets. In the end, we just covered our legs and arms (even though it was hot) and sprayed mosquito repellent with 50% deet.
In short, Kruger is a must, but don't expect to see leopards or cheetahs, as they are, quite literally, impossible to 'spot'.

Malelane is very beautiful and easy to get around.
Malelane is very beautiful and easy to get around. I loved the wild life the most, it was pleasant view to watch the birds and animals roaming around freely. The staff at the gate were very friendly and helpful. Wish I had more time to give a constructive review but went to the park for just half a day and managed to see some of the big 5 which was the purpose of my visit.

Gideon was a great help. We stayed here for one night before entering Kruger early the following morning. He was more than happy to be woken up at 5am to open the gate for us to take the car and be first in line at the Malelane Gate of Kruger. Room is basic but has everything you need for a short stay; air-con, TV, mini fridge and tea/coffee station.
If you are visiting Kruger National Park, this is the best place to stay. Excellent location, where you can relax and unwind with family and friends and at the same time enjoy seeing Elephants, Hippos, Wild Buffaloes, Crocodiles, Water bucks, many variety of birds and many more. It was mesmerizing!!
