Breakfast was relaxing and pleasant in the courtyard outside the dining room and staff were very attentive. The hotel is very well maintained and it is pleasing that a historical town with historical buildings sets an example to remember some of South Africa's great history.
Set in Graaff-Reinet, The Whyte House features air-conditioned rooms. Among the various facilities are a garden, a terrace, as well as a shared lounge, with a TV.

This was an over night stay, but I hope we get to come again, stay longer and go to the local village of Nieu-Bethesda. I will would love to go to the Owl house and take the fossil tour. I would also love to explore the local art galleries.

The cottage is in a really nice renovated historic part of town. Lot's to see around there, like several museums. Also good restaurants and even a golf course. And of course on Saturday morning jogging just outside town. Friends of us have also already visited.

Graaff-Reinet is one of the more interesting and beautiful towns in South Africa. The Rupert family have ensured it maintains its charm. The town is clean, well looked after, and interesting. There is a fascinating history to the whole area. The surrounding areas are worth exploring. Great sunsets from the top of the surrounding hills. Camdeboo is fascinating and worth taking time to explore. The Valley of Desolation is worth the time taken to explore its nooks and crannies.

Beautiful historic town.
Beautiful historic town. All the heritage buildings are well maintained. People of the town are extremely friendly and helpful. It seems that even the private house owners close to the town center takes pride in keeping their properties well-maintained and beautiful. Extremely impressed with this Karoo town!

I loved the splendour of the Jacaranda trees, the Karoo architecture of the houses mixed with the unexpectedly grand old buildings in the town center. Lovely shops and enjoyed an excellent coffee at Maria’s!
We will be back!

We believe that Graaf-Reinet is a great stop over.
We believe that Graaf-Reinet is a great stop over. We believe we'll need to stopover in the future as well - it's 5 hours from Bloemfontein and the places we visit at the coast are 8 hours plus, so we see it as a great opportunity to stop over and chop our journey in 2 manageable stints.

We really enjoyed our stay. The staff were all incredibly helpful and on-the-ball. The hotel grounds are beautiful and such a pleasure to walk around. I was obsessed with our big bathroom! The lamb curry I had for dinner at the restaurant was delicious. I find it so cool that the hotel is involved in community upliftment through the training of young locals in the tourism academy programme. I will definitely stay over again.
Attentive owners, Rob met us personally.
Spacious room and attractively decorated. Fabulous breakfast cooked by Aimee.
Would recommend The Whyte House, as we would stay here when in Graaff-Reinet again
The accommodation exceeded expectations.
Although this was a self catering cottage, coffee, tea rusks, milk and cereal was provided which was really appreciated.
All the necessities of self catering accommodation and some extras which was a surprise. Private courtyard. Alarm system. Secure behind gate parking available.
