Breakfast was better but I was hoping to serve myself at Christmas, but I was made to order, and portions were so rationed, especially the mushroom.
We thought the Christmas breakfast would be special to make us feel it's Christmas but the standard was even lower than the previous day.

Very accommodating host and beautiful farm setting. Very comfortable farmhouse that has recently been refurbished, beautifully light and airy and with new thoughtful finishes. Loved the friendly dogs too

Magnificent views, peaceful location, great walks from the property into the mountains.
Great area, very scenic and relaxing. Family friendly activities available. Not a lot of outside eating options though so it’s always best to stay at an accomodation that offers all or part of the catering.

We used the resort as a stay over to hike the Drakensberg as it was convenient and close to most of the hiking trails in Royal Natal, apart from the trails starting from Witsieshoek Mountain Resort in the Free State (chain ladder).

The roads are quiet and enjoyable to drive on at any speed without having to worry about traffic, hence giving you the chance to enjoy the scenery. As there is no street lighting, it is advisable to avoid diving at night as some areas have huge potholes that can be hard to spot in the dark

The Cavern is a wonderful place to stay and unwind.
The Cavern is a wonderful place to stay and unwind. The meals are delicious and the Spa is a little slice of heaven. The rooms are clean and comfortable and they all have good views. I’ve been going to The Cavern for nearly 20 years now and intend to keep going back again and again!

We shopped there and the Spar was adequate though expensive.
We shopped there and the Spar was adequate though expensive. The town itself is not great but fairly litter free. the Lodges and accommodation around Bergville seem very nice, I would definitely go back to the area.

it was ideally situated for us as we had come to run the Drakensburg Marathon. We did not have to wake up early as it is situated in close proximity to the grounds where the race was starting and finishing.
Unfortunately, we did not get to visit any sites as that was not in our plans.
Chances of getting lost are minimal as it is not a big area

The hotel is set in beautiful surroundings and the suite was very spacious, comfortable and clean. Every member of staff makes you feel welcome and the service and food is excellent.(special mention to our lovely waitress Lulu). There are plenty of communal lounges, activity rooms, and bar areas so even when full there is always somewhere to sit and look at the stunning scenery . It is set up as a proper hotel for families but we thoroughly enjoyed our stay as an older couple.
The location is superb and the hotel is lovely. There is more than enough room and the staff were so attentive a lit a fire for us to ward off the evening chill. The views are breath taking. Dinner was very good as was the breakfast the next day. There is also an honesty bar and tea and coffee on the house. I would recommend this hotel.
Charming chalets, equipped with all the necessary tools and comfort. You have the most amazing views of Bergville and it is a convenient stop. Would definitely want to extend my stay on a next occasion to enjoy the proximity to all the amazing places in the region.
The hotel was in a good location. Rooms , linen, towels were clean and neat. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Swimming pool clean and well maintained. Rooms had good air conditioning and lovely toiletries were provided daily.
The place is modern inside but looks horrible outside. It is not a good location at all. Bergville have become a rural area and town. It had DStv which was a plus.
