I stayed at the Rutgers University Inn and Conference Center in New Brunswick, NJ, and had a pleasant experience. The location is convenient, offering good walkway paths and being not too far from the city center if you want to take an Uber. I particularly enjoyed the ability to walk around the area. The hotel also provides access to the university's gym, which was a nice perk for staying active.
The hotel itself is modest, with good internet access and proximity to the train station, making it a convenient choice for travelers. The staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable, adding a welcoming touch to the stay.
Although I arrived after 1 a.m., the check-in process was straightforward. Initially, access was a bit tricky, but the instructions using the Red Phone solved the issue efficiently. One minor inconvenience was that the elevator was out of service when I arrived. However, the reception staff graciously offered to help with my luggage, which I appreciated but didn't need.
Overall, the warm service of the staff made the experience enjoyable, and I look forward to returning. Thank you for the hospitality!

If you aren't visiting friends (like we were) or attending a conference at Rutgers, there is absolutely no reason to visit this part of the state. But if you must, New Brunswick is a good, central location to be based in.

We were there to move our daughter into the University, but we also had friends close by. Because we were on the Campus, we were able to make use of the college busses. They were free and took you to different spots on the Campus and also downtown which is excellent as we discovered that aspect after burning a couple days using Uber. We should have spoken to the front desk first.
Do not miss going to the Rutgers Garden as it is free and also very beautiful. Lots of restaurants downtown to eat. Also utilize the list of restaurants that the front desk gives you because it has a good variety. Most of the restaurants delivers.

Accomodation is a walking distance from the New Brunswick train station and New Brunswick (Albany St/Spring St) bus stop, so you can easily get to/from airport or to NYC. Also the University and University hospital is very close. It is very quiet and clean. Host was very helpful. You will receive codes to get in. Little shops/restaurants are around.
The place has its years, but it is still comfortable. Rooms are of a good size. Ours had 2 double beds, with good mattresses, pillows and linen. There is a minifridge, microwave and coffee machine.
The hotel is in a quiet, secluded area, next to one of Rutgers's campuses, but only a 5 min. drive to downtown New Brunswick.
