Widow Avery House, hotel in Hallowell

Widow Avery House has air-conditioned guest accommodation in Hallowell, 2.9 km from State Capitol, 6.4 km from Pine Tree State Arboretum and 7.2 km from Holocaust Human Rights Center of Maine.

The loft apartment at Widow Avery house was nice and clean, quiet, and comfortable. I loved the separate little living room/kitchenette area, and was very please with all the little things available in the room. It was so nice to have a microwave, little refrigerator, dishes, Keurig, iron and ironing board, hair dryer, and flattening iron available. There were too many little touches like this to even list them all. There was even a little basket of things like individual packets of pain relievers and hand sanitizer on the dresser in the bedroom. So many thoughtful touches! I loved that they don't allow guests to wear their outdoor shoes any further than the entry area, because it further reassured me of the cleanliness of the floors and braided rugs.

Best Western Plus Augusta Civic Center Inn, hotel in Hallowell

Located within 4.1 km of Old Fort Western and 21 km of Maine State Museum, Best Western Plus Augusta Civic Center Inn provides rooms in Augusta.

Great staff - very friendly and helpful. Breakfast had great options. Ample parking out front. The room was spacious, but the walls were thin so I could hear the TV next door - took me a while to sleep for this reason. I think I was expecting a more modern room, but it was comfortable.

    Great walking town.

Great walking town. It has not disappointed us anytime we have visited. Food at the Quarry is great; food at the Public House was also very good, but a limited on-tap beer menu was disappointing. The Maine House was beyond our expectations. The drinks were exceptional. Cannot forget Ashley at the Easy Street Lounge (very funky vibe)! Such a fantastic time with our friends.

Charming small town, with several good restaurants, a few shops, and good ice cream and antiques store. Very close to Gardiner (another small and charming town), Augusta, and easy drive to Portland. Parking is tight on weekends.

Hallowell was not my destination, just a place to spend a few nights while I attended a workshop elsewhere. I was pleasantly surprised. It is a quaint little town with shops and restaurants along the Kennebec River waterfront. There is a community waling/biking trail that is paved, and seats lined up along a waterfront area for relaxing. The old buildings and town are pleasant. It did not have the congestion of the coastal tourist towns.

I had a memorial in Gardiner, and wanted to be nearby.

I had a memorial in Gardiner, and wanted to be nearby. I stayed just one night. Hallowell is a lovely town between Gardiner and Augusta, on the Kennebec River. This place is in a great location in Hallowell. It's near Slate's, a great bakery & restaurant, downtown, and close to the river. A nice town to see and walk around, if I had more time.
