The property location just amazing! The cliff, the water, the simplicity of the architecture, the scenery and then the trail for the nature around it. I would definitely come back if I want to be still, reconnecting with nature and have a good quiet time. Food and service are great too!

Boathouse Cottage (Historic Coast Guard property), hotel in Gualala

This property offers access to a terrace and free private parking. With free Wifi, this 1-bedroom vacation home provides a flat-screen TV and a kitchenette with a microwave and toaster.

My dog & I loved our stay at the Boathouse Cottage! It was quaint, very cozy, clean, comfortable, and with views of Arena Cove. We used the provided firewood to light up the fireplace & soaked in the hot tub every night (just me, not my dog :) Also grilled a tri-tip on the outdoor BBQ. The host was also very responsive to my inquiries and accommodating as well.

This was a beautiful, small coastal town.

This was a beautiful, small coastal town. We enjoyed lunch at the Crab Shack and shopped at the excellent grocery store for a nibble dinner on the deck. I wish we had a second day there to enjoy hikes and more restaurants.

Love the ocean view, love the scenery of the area.

Love the ocean view, love the scenery of the area. It's not too far for us but enough to feel like a getaway. The bakery and pizza next to the grocery store was great. I would have liked to try more places but we liked staying at our place and saved some $. We did dine at Cove Azul which was nice and Mother's Day brunch at Sea Ranch Lodge was excellent!

Gualala is a beautiful small town on the northern California coast with great fine dining and comfortable lodging. The the is part of what locals have nicknamed the coast's "banana belt" because of its uniquely mild micro-climate. Ocean winds tend to keep the fog offshore, so on days when other coastal areas might be foggy, Gualala often offers sunny skies.

The road to get there was very narrow and took a long time to arrive, it was a long drive for just a weekend… we spent two of our days just going and coming home and only had one day there to enjoy the area… if we go again we would plan more time..

Pleasant little hotel with friendly staff.

Pleasant little hotel with friendly staff. It was really nice that they provided a list of restaurants for the surrounding area, with times and what they served! Just a great find, that I found using Google Maps while planning a route.

We arrived late after a long drive on the West Pacific Coast and it felt to soothing to arrive in this warm and comfy place. Everything was made easy for us to check-in on our own, the owner had the kindness to put us in an ocean view room. The motel area is very peaceful and beautiful and Gualala in itself is a wonderful little place. The owner was absolutely kind and friendly, she recommended us a wonderful coffee place. We would come back for sure, our stay was short but this motel was such a happy relief to arrive in!😊🌺

It's a very charming hotel and the location is fantastic. You can park your car in front of your room and the room was small but cozy. We liked the fact that the Surf Inn is the second oldest hotel in Gold Beach and the owner was so nice. She's very service-oriented and flexible.
