We were there for a funeral of a close family member, and did not go to many places but, Captain Bob was a great place for dinner. All the family met there to talk eat and have a pleasant time, which we did, the waitress was superb!!! She handled all of us by herself and GOT EVERYONE ORDER CORRECT. THE FOOD WAS DELICOUS. Although a seafood place they had lots of other offerings besides seafood. CREAT PLACE!!! The people in the area were great everywhere you went EVERYBODY SPOKE TO YOU!!

Elizabeth City, NC, or "E-City" as we call it, is an up-and-coming coastal town with a charming collegiate vibe. It's growing steadily, thanks in part to Elizabeth City State University, which brings a youthful energy to the area. During our brief stay for collegiate business, we could see the town’s potential and its future as a bustling hub.
Shopping in Elizabeth City is basic but sufficient, with a super Walmart covering most needs. However, the presence of well-known stores like Hobby Lobby, Aldi, and Tropical Café hints at the town's growth and development. It's easy to imagine even more exciting retail options popping up soon.
When it comes to food, options are currently a bit limited. The only major chain restaurant we spotted was Ruby Tuesday's. However, don't let that deter you! A quick Google search will reveal some hidden culinary gems that are well worth exploring.
Our time in E-City was short and focused on college-related tasks, so we didn't get to fully immerse ourselves in everything the town has to offer. But from what we saw, Elizabeth City is on the rise, and we're looking forward to seeing how it evolves. If you're in town for college visits or just passing through, keep an eye on this charming coastal town—it’s definitely going places!

The host Sandro was very accommodating.
The host Sandro was very accommodating. We were treated like we were at home. This will definitely be our hideaway spot from now on. It was quiet and peaceful. Beautiful sunrise and sunsets. We already have booked return visits. Suggested to our host that something like a Continental breakfast and some evening cookies on the coffee bar would be nice for early travelers or late arrivals. Especially because there's no restaurants close by.

We really enjoyed our stay here.
We really enjoyed our stay here. The house is a very old historical building in town. It has lots of character and quirks of a home built so long ago . We loved that part of it. It's lovely inside, very comfortable and clean. Good hot water and pressure in the shower. A very comfortable bed. Quiet at night. The host was warm and friendly . He was there to help out with anything needed. We recommend staying here .

My husband and i liked most the concern shown to us about the ice machines wasn't working. An employee from the laundry department walked to a convenient store for the visiting guest for ice. That stood out to us most, not even receiving a tip after being offered.
Other than that service, was professional.

Very, as they say, "quaint area".
Very, as they say, "quaint area". Old architectural houses to look at. A great little coffee shop, Muddy Waters Coffeehouse on West Main St. You can walk to a lot of places there. The Culpepper Inn is a great bed and breakfast.
