Moonshine Uroa Boutique Hotel, hotel in Uroa

Offering beach front accommodations in Uroa, on the eastern coast of Unguja, Moonshine Uroa Boutique Hotel is privately owned and features an outdoor pool and a restaurant.

The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. Following my unfavourable interaction with cats, we were upgraded to a bigger room with an ocean view since I have ailurophobia (cat phobia). Thanks to the hotel owners for such a gesture. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out.

The location was excellent. The vegetation was very nice, and the seating places were very comfortable. We had an issue with our bank card, and they also gave us more time during our stay to sort this out. Disliked · Being an Ailurophobia (Cats phobic), I did not enjoy the outdoor space because several cats roamed everywhere, including the restaurant, balconies and stairs. This has nothing to do with the owners but my personal condition. I advise those with similar conditions to avoid this place. Areas of improvement include breakfast - more food diversity and a balanced diet are needed. The beds in the rooms need to be fixed to avoid noise. Bathrooms need upgrading.

Spice market was very interesting to learn and see how the herbs and spices we use on a daily basis is grown and cultivated. Stone Town has a lot of history and a spice shoppers paradise. Prison Island wasn’t bad, expected more but the turtles made it worth the visit.

Very small quiet village on the east coast of Zanzibar, perfect for a relaxing romantic vacation. If some action is needed you can go to the nearby Kiwendwa, only 20 20-minute drive, or to the bigger more touristy areas in the north up to an hour drive. But to enjoy the island in full Uroa is one of the best places. And the best food! (we have tried in 5 different villages across Zanzibar!

The Paradise Beach Resort and Spa in Uroa is a self-...

The Paradise Beach Resort and Spa in Uroa is a self-contained area - ideal if you just want to stay somewhere that has everything you need. There are "external" excursions available if you do want to see outside the resort. At the time I went (May) it was not crowded at all, and the weather was superb - the rainy season had passed fortunately, and sun was present all day every day. Lovely private sandy beach, rooms are also good, and well looked after by the daily clean service, including an evening "mosquito" spray visit. Food was also good - nothing too elaborate, but adequate, and plenty of it. All in all a great place to stay.

    There is no restaurant.

There is no restaurant. The WIFI did not function, the tv did not function. There was no hot water. The staff didn't respond to any issues just laughed. They could not even provide a receipt. I was over charged and am still seeking a refund and they tried to take money on arrival having said they had taken funds in advance. There were people walking around with 14 inch knives on their belts. The hotel forced guests to wear irremovable wrist bands as if Alzheimer patients. The local beach is unpleasant, which is rare for Zanzibar, which is full with beautiful beaches. There were a group of women sat outside my window all day neither guest nor staff. If you risk booking please be advised that this is a remote location, if there is no scope to go elsewhere you will be compelled to stay. There are many other wonderful establishments on this island catering for all manner of needs and pockets.

From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with warm smiles and impeccable service that set the tone for our entire stay. The design of the hotel perfectly balances modern luxury with authentic Zanzibari charm, creating a tranquil oasis that feels both exclusive and welcoming. The food was a highlight of our stay. The on-site restaurants served a delicious array of local and international cuisine. Every team member we encountered went above and beyond to make our stay special. Their genuine care and attention to detail were remarkable.
