My sister and I stayed at Mr Kahawa for few nights. The reception was warm, the staff was welcoming and helped our luggage to the room. The room was clean and seemed quite new! The shower was good and it was quiet during the night. Besides the hotel, the swimming pool was clean and relaxing. We also enjoyed breakfast and lunch here for some days - which was well priced for the fresh food. Bonus was the Kite Centre right there too, with friendly staff and good equipment! 10/10 we would stay here again.

The VIBE. The LOCATION. The STAFF. It's a 15 out of 10! Best place to stay on Zanzibar. The hosts Alex and Lilly are amazing and super helpful. Paje is a great town with several beach and other resturants, shops, atm's, banks, medical services, fuel station, etc. The Paje vibe is great and the restaurants along the beach are great. Kite surfing is popular in Paje. Overall, definately one of the best areas to stay in Zanzibar.

I'm not even joking, every 2 minutes someone would come to sell me something for my entire 12 day stay. It was extremely energy-draining.
Someone even came to me while I was in the damn water.
"JAMBO! HOW ARE YOU? DO YOU WANT TO BUY A T-SHIRT?"
"I HAVE NO SHILLINGS. I'M LITERALLY IN THE WATER."
"GO TO THE HOTEL, HAKUNA MATATA."
I'm sorry to say, but despite Zanzibar being one of the most beautiful places I've seen, the excessive overselling by the locals was a traumatic experience, and it simply did not allow me to enjoy my stay.

My stay at Hotel Ndame in Paje was a thoroughly negative experience. The hotel's description is completely misleading and does not reflect the actual conditions, which feels like a scam. The price is significantly overrated for the substandard quality provided.
Major issues:
Cleanliness: The overall compound was shockingly dirty, far below basic hygiene standards expected of any hotel.
Staff behavior: The staff was consistently rude and became aggressive when complaints were raised. Most alarmingly, I observed clear instances of racist behavior from the staff, particularly towards African guests. This discrimination was blatant and completely unacceptable.
Security: The security personnel at the gate were unnecessarily violent, creating an atmosphere of fear rather than safety.
Facilities: The actual accommodations were far below the advertised quality.
I cannot recommend this hotel to any travelers, especially those of African descent. The combination of unsanitary conditions, misleading marketing, overpricing, poor treatment by staff, racist attitudes, and aggressive security made for a distressing and potentially dangerous experience."

Paje is a Swahili fishing and seaweed farming village that has a bustling beach tourist economy. It is an excellent destination for kite surfing, parasailing, snorkeling, or generally beach relaxing. The restaurants are a mix of authentic Swahili fish camps, boutique beach food cafés, and luxury hotel restaurants. Everyone in the hospitality services there were incredibly welcoming and helpful.

Paje is a beautiful town, best one of the island.
Paje is a beautiful town, best one of the island. Atmosfeer is good, people are very friendly. There is also lots of delicious local food available, just don't go to much to the western places but visit local places so the people of Paje can do there business. The beach is perfect, especially for kite surfing. You must visit Mr Kahawa for one of the best coffees and friendly staff! Go around on the island on bike or rent a scooter it's so nice to see the litle local villages and meet the most friendly locals!

The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
The receptionists extremely good and very helpful
If you enjoy more of a tourist and party atmosphere this is probably the place for you
I personally prefer the more relaxed atmosphere where the staff are not so ‘on top’ of you
I booked 2 suits unfortunately one was on top of the bar and kitchen so it was quite noisy until midnight
The second suit was bottom floor access to the beach but the beach beds were full of clothes just dumped there
When I mentioned it I was told that it was ok
Not really very good for 2 suits for 500€ a day
Needless to say the next day we changed hotels to a more relaxed one more to my liking
Not to say that the hotel was bad just not for me

MOYOWANGU HOUSE is so comfortable, spacious, own kitchen and stting room. Air-conditioned rooms, free WiFi, the owners are friendly and approachable. I recommend this place to a friend/colleague. You will not be disappointed.
Paje Beach Apts & Hotel was our FAVORITE place to stay in Zanzibar!! Everything about it made our days there wonderful, from the warm and welcoming staff, to the location, pool, proximity to the beach, decoration, cleanliness, breakfast, the bar, live music, just everything! We are nostalgic about our days there and can't wait until we return.
Beautiful villa in the heart of Paje, 5 minutes walk to the beach. The minute you set foot inside the gate everything is better! The staff are wonderful, especially Lucy the receptionist. I’m a travel agent and would recommend this property to everyone travelling to Zanzibar! Can’t wait to get back in a week.
Villa Kiota is a nice option if you would like to stay in Paje close to the beach and the restaurants on the main road. The rooms are nice and the staff is friendly. Breakfast is tasty as well.
The garden is beautiful and if you're lucky, you will see the rare red colobus only living on Zanzibar passing by.
The rooms were big and spacious.
The staff was most friendly, professional and the happiest I have ever encountered in a hotel in Zanzibar.
We were greeted from the parking area when we arrived and escorted when we left, including the manager.
