The city of Istanbul offers a trip unlike any other, encompassing Asian and European cultures to create a heady mix of art, music and food. The amazing Old Town and the Sultanahmet are home to iconic Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia. More history is hidden in the Topkapi Palace, where you can glimpse the splendor and opulence of Turkey’s Ottoman heritage.
Take a stroll through the historic center or the busy Taksim Square before watching the sun set behind countless mosques and minarets. Local fish markets and numerous restaurants lining the bridge to Galata offer the Golden Horn’s daily catch.
If you prefer the fine art of bargaining to fine art, lose yourself in the Grand Bazar and maybe you’ll emerge with a hookah, some Turkish coffee, or even a carpet. The Spice Bazar further immerses you in the sights, smells, and tastes of Turkish culture.
Getting to Istanbul is an easy trip from Ataturk International Airport or Sabiha Gokcen Airport. Whether you want a luxury hotel on the Asian side or a budget hostel in Taksim Square, Booking.com has over 1,000 great accommodations for a vacation in Istanbul.
It's very expensive compering to Italy.
People (taxis, restaurants and shops will try to get more payment from the one quoted 1st. Just be careful)
Beautiful city if you are staying near old part (European side) so many places to visit (book online tickets or a tour guide to avoid long lines for any entrance) You need a few days to side everything

The history of the city is amazing, plenty to see, do and eat. The public transportation in the city with the combination of trains, buses and trams is amazing, cheap and efficient - a great lesson for many other cities. Although there are some genuinely kind people, it feels like the majority are there to rip you off and it's not a nice feeling to have this constantly. The biggest minus point for me is that EVERYONE seems to smoke in Istanbul and it is almost impossible to get away from it, worse if you are a non-smoker like us. Even in non-smoking areas, you can still smell the nicotine, it just feels like they don't care and respect non-smokers.

Istanbul is a fascinating city with a lot of history.
Istanbul is a fascinating city with a lot of history. People are very nice and the streets are safe in the SultanAhmet where we stayed. Take public transportation as much as possible to avoid the traffic. When planning a stay try to book near the public tram line to get access to the sites. Visiting the palaces and are only nice if you and the family want to experience the history, my teenagers did not want to see them. The food is also great and tons of variety.

I had 3 days and could have filled a few more but saw the main sights. A return trip will be needed to do other sights.
Trams are 30 lira, metro was cheap. I ate at local restaurants,
Blue mosque, check when prayer time is and avoid then.
In Grand bazaar as in other bazaars, have a budget and haggle.

Great city for culture, history and cats! So many cats. Highly recommend the Blue Mosque, the Aya Sofia, and Topkapi Palace, plus a boat ride on the Bosphorus. Also, while the Grand Bazaar wasn't to our taste, the Spice Bazaar shouldn't be missed.

Istanbul is a very lively town and popular with tourists of a lot of countries. Therefore there are quite long queues and waiting times at the most important attractions. Especially for the Topkapi Palace we found it worth to have private guide. The archaeological museum with very interesting and worth to visit. All in all we found the town lively sometimes bustling but clean and few harassment by beggars and acceptable behaviour by people trying you to interest for their shops.

We had a wonderful stay here! We received a room upgrade, which really made our stay. The room was fantastic and had a wonderful bathroom/balcony, which were extremely spacious. The spa was lovely, the staff were very helpful and the hotel was very clean and modern. Would definitely recommend for anyone staying in Istanbul. There was a free shuttle available which needs pre booking, however we were happy to pay for a taxi to Taksim square, which was only a few euros. We will definitely be recommending this hotel to family/friends!
First of all, the location of the hotel is very good, it is close to Taksim Square, from which public transport runs in any direction, including buses from both Gokcen and Istanbul airports. The room is quite big and clean. The only inconvenience was that we didn't have a closet. the staff was very attentive and pleasant. Thank them for that. The street where the hotel is located is full of very good cafes with live music until the morning, so we didn't have to look far for entertainment.
Amazing view from the window. Possibly the best in Istanbul. Enough spacious room for two. Comfortable bed. Friendly and helpful staff who will always help with any questions. Delicious breakfast, but although you can make it more varied. The hotel is located in the downtown. All sights can be reached on foot. Galata bridge under the window. 10 minutes to the Galata Tower. 5 minutes to Galataport. 20 minutes to Sultanahmet.
The best bed I slept in istanbul. spent nights at different supposed 5 star hotels, only this had a decent bed to sleep in. others their bed was too soft. supermarket was right behind and close to wide variety of restaurants
Rrally was good hotel near airport very clean room was clean amele was perfect personel was great Wi-Fi was work fast the best option near İstanbul airport
