My travel continued too long than the expected arrival time. Although the reception was opened and the people there were very friendly. Also the room was very quiet and clean. The city is also very small and nice for relaxing. Next time I'm going to visit them a bit longer to have time to completely relax

The host was super nice and always helped us, when we had a question/problem. It's a 10min walk into the old city and quite quiet at the location. The host family lives right above, but with separate entries.
Very nice historic town by the lake and river. You have to see is the castle and its museums. You definitely should enjoy the breathtaking view of the surroundings. The Kurentova hiša museum in the city center is also great. We appreciated the nice interpretation of the guide who introduced us to an interesting local custom. I recommend eating at the fish restaurant Gostilna Ribič or at the restaurant Gostilna Amadeus. If someone likes ice cream, then I recommend Sladoled Deti at Slomškova street 14 where you can get a huge cone of great ice cream for 1.8 euros.

I loved it! The town has a very good vibe.
I loved it! The town has a very good vibe. Despite the old town not being very full of people, it is pretty amazing. We had the opportunity to have a tour guide, whom I highly recommend. She shared many interesting and funny facts or legends about this beautiful place. We stayed just for two nights, but next time I would love to take a bike trip around, visit the castle, and enjoy the spirit in the Music Cafe or the town cinema (the oldest cinema in Slovenia. :)

Ptuj is a lovely historic town.
Ptuj is a lovely historic town. There are thermal pools which are a little dated but still very pleasant. The best experience was the visit to the castle. After you buy your ticket you can visit an exhbition about local carnival tradition (Kurenti) and an exhibition showing the production of cotton, silk, linen and wool. Then you can go to the castle which has three floors. You can explore various exhibitions on your own, there are paintings, weapons, furniture, and a lot more. We especially liked the mix of modern "paintings" and the old ones.

Very nice old town with a pleasant town centre.
Very nice old town with a pleasant town centre. Easily walkable and nice pedestrianised areas. Quite a few sights to see, easily visitable in one or two days. Good choice of restaurants with lovely local food.
We didn't do any cycling but it looks like a great place and area for cycling. The river and local area are interesting for birdwatching. Apparently in the winter the river is a good place for seeing large numbers of wildfowl.
I was pleasantly suprised. I went there to stay for a night and cycle the other day. The location was great for my purpose (I went to do the Drava Bike from Ptuj to Ormoz) - the motorway is very close, the staff was extremely nice, they have great food throughout the day (also buffet is available), the room was clean and cosy and they let me leave the car at their place even though I have checked out in the morning. Will be back!
Šilak is very good situated at the border of the old town of ptuj. The owner has a privat parking and you get to the B&B when you turn left after crossing the bridge. It is possible to do that, even if the sign says "one way". You get provided with some good recomondations on restaurants, what to see and how to get around. We spent two nights in ptuj, it was lovley.
Very clean and well run B&B. The owner is very friendly and knowledgeable about the Ptuj area and Slovenia in general. Recommend booking for 2 nights if passing through because Ptuj is well worth taking a whole day to explore. The castle is super well preserved and worth seeing, and there are some good restaurants and cafes.
The location of the hotel is good: about 20 minutes walk from the train station and about 10 minutes walk to the old town. The owner is very friendly, and breakfast was decent. The hotel is surrounded by a lovely garden. The room was very basic but OK. I liked the fact that there was a kettle there.
Very friendly people - great with kids, very quite & clean place in the historical Centre of Ptuj. Especially the massage chairs were a pleasant surprise! We loved the place and felt like home!
