Good place for relax and out of the town. The area is full of natural, if anyone looks for natural and not far from the town or city. It is good place.

Varmdo is a district of 10 000 islands with few towns or villages to wander around or give a sense of place and culture. It has beautiful scenery, lakes, inlets, beaches, woods and farms which made it ideal for hiking and it would have been great for cycling as well as none of the inclines were too steep or too long.
There are some beautiful nature reserves such as Bjorno and Sandarna which make the amazing bistro Bjorkvik a good place to pop in for food and drink.
The boat services are generally good, but it's not easy to locate information about what is running and when - even Google struggled to find where the information was hidden and repeatedly gave best guesses!
If you want to explore quaint villages, pop into shops, trip over a cute cafe for a snack or engage with locals, then Varmdo is not the place for you. If you want to explore nature, hardly see a soul, wild swim, trek through forests past ancient burial mounds and occasionally see people fishing or sailing in the lakes, then add the district to your plans.

It’s a lovely hotel located in a beautiful setting with horses and sheep on your doorstep. (The cows are not far away either). The staff are welcoming and understanding. They’re helpful and positive. They really make you feel at home.
There’s always a tea and coffee station available in the reception which makes it easy to help oneself any time of the day. Great breakfast. Rooms are newly renovated and have everything you need. Very comfortable and practical. Lots of parking available free of charge.
The breakfast was super - and being able to eat on the tables in the garden -looking out at the sea/sound was really special. The access to using their bicycles and being able to cycle to the ferry and then to the other islands (Vaxholm) was really great. The staff were so kind and accommodating - organising us on the bicycles, suggesting day excursions, booking kayaking for us. I took two teenagers - who are not the usual age profile of guests for the hotel - but they really made them feel welcome.
What a lovely spot to take a few days to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city but yet a short ride away from Stockholm. A great place to explore the archipelago without having to use one of the ferries. Great friendly staff who provided us with tips and places around the hotel (and since we had great weather send us a to a great (relaxing) place to swim(within walking distance). Great terrace with great views for a nice drink (or Fika) after sightseeing!
Fabulous hotel and staff!
Fixed price dinner menu was exceptionally good value.
Breakfast was fantastic.
We'd love to come back next time we visit the archipelago!
