The hotel is in a very special location on the river and is steeped in the history of the Duoro. The staff were all amazing and couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. Next time though I think I would stay in one of their suites scattered through the vines

This place felt like I was walking into someone's comfortable and stylish home. It was beautiful, quiet, clean, and centrally located, and it had absolutely everything I wanted, from kitchen supplies to basics like ample shelf and cabinet space in the bathroom (I've found that so many bathrooms in rental places look lovely, but there's nowhere to put anything). It's also in a beautiful region and a short drive from the fascinating Foz Coa museum and park. I didn't meet the host, but the instructions on accessing the key were easy to follow. I couldn't recommend the Casa do Tablado more highly.
Featuring an outdoor swimming pool, this country retreat is located 180 km from Oporto, within typical Portuguese stone houses.

Everything was wonderful. Annabella was very patient with us and so was Sonia. It was just what we needed to get away from the hustle and bustle. The train rides were simply stunning!

Had everything we needed, including a washing machine. Spacious, quiet apartment. Host provided us with his sons number as host had little English and we had little Portuguese.

Coa Parque & Museum was worth visiting if you have a day or so to spare beyond Douro Valley. The museum has a good restaurant. Best to drive yourself, but do not go with an EV as super fast charging stations are not easy to find in the remote area.

The views were fantastic.
The views were fantastic. The pool area was charming and had the unbelievable view. Our room had a terrace that wasn’t really usable and didn’t have the view. Try to book a different room. The archeology museum is just down the road and is a must see. Book a tour of the sites of the rock carvings as soon as possible.

The town itself is nothing to write home about - quiet, provincial, one or two restaurants and a few shops. The Coa Valley, 2km away, was excellent: a great museum, interesting trips to see the paleological engravings and lovely scenery.

The Paleolithic archaeological Park is truly fascinating as is the story of how the local people, especially the young, allied with others around the country managed to save the prehistoric rock carvings. The museum is great for children! The visit to the actual rock carvings requires some strenuous hiking up and down and can be quite hot. Aim for other than the summer time or at least go early in the morning. And the museum has a lovely restaurant.

It’s quite a nice town to pass by on the road.
It’s quite a nice town to pass by on the road. Good food is a bit harder to find but the local shops are perfect for meats and cheeses. If you’re a fan of going off the beaten track, skip the museums and parks and go up to Castelho Melhor to find another authentic little village amidst the almond and olive trees, there’s also some of those engravings.

Great for the rock cavings.
Great for the rock cavings. Difficult to find a place for lunch in the town so probably best to eat at the hotel restaurant. Nice to visit the municipal swimming pool after the visit at the museum on the hot day. The ticket is only 1.50 :)

It is a beautiful house located next to the main square of Vila Nova de Foz Coa with incredible view to the church. Host was really friendly, helpful and provided everything what I needed during my stay. Place is fully equipped with all kitchen and bathroom appliances. It is really big, comfortable and nice. I was amazed by the architecture and history of this house. I highly recommend staying there and I am sure it was not my last stay there.
Rita, the manager, was really friendly and helpful, so straight away we were made to feel very welcome and happy there. We had an early start to walk the Iron Path, so Rita left us some things so we could breakfast before leaving.
Amazing location, surrounded by vineyards, with excellent views up and down the Douro river.
The breakfast was beyond amazing, and the hotel bottles its own wine too.
100% exceptional. The owners (hosts) Carlos and Mariazinha are a true example of excellent hospitality!
Breakfast is delicious. So many options to choose from. The port tasting :) very good. The swimming pool is clean and big enough. Without a doubt one of the favorite hotels I stayed. Highly recommended even for families!
