We ferried Sea los pearls and had a great selection of food and drinks. Our high speed catermarin got us to Contadora Island in about 3 hours. We sat outside the boat as the inside may not have had AC when we were in port. Our boat on the way home was faster 1.5 hours and had AC. Arrival was a little rough as it was high tide and the dock was a bendable puzzle dock with a steep hill. If someone is traveling with disabilities, older or younger children, be prepared. On the way out, it was a completely different experience with no waves and the dock was level for easy exit. We arrived at Contadora at 10:30 and we're met by Carlos who put our things into the golf cart and we 3 squeezed in the back. We arrived at Isla de Mar and met Maria who told us our room wouldn't be ready until 3 but allowed us to change and use the pool. They offered us lunch of a chicken and pasta and I had grilled salmon with a potato puree. Very good. I was told by another guest that Chef Roderick was new to the place and a benefit. Breakfast was personalized & tasty. There was a menu that you can preselect dinner (6:30) which I did the first night for our anniversary. It is just the 3 of them who were there during our visit. Go in with the attitude that it is Island Time and you will be fine. He will prepared any catch from any fishing trip. We decided to rent a golf cart for $60 that Maria arranged to deliver for 5 hours. We went by the supermarcado (there are 2) which has the basics. I am very glad that I read a review to bring snacks and drinks before getting on the ferry at Foodie. We did buy more beer but brought our wine. We did have a snack fridge stocked as well in our room, but I was glad to have gotten what we liked. We return to our hotel for dinner and relaxing. The island didn't appear to have much night life so consider this visit a quiet trip. The second night we found a Colombian local restaurant that turned into a disco they said.

The island is small, and there's not much to do around here.

The island is small, and there's not much to do around here. No bars or places to hang out after sunset. Restaurants and supermarkets close early; by around 7:30 PM, everything was closed, so we couldn't find anywhere to have dinner. However, we ended up eating at Casa Angelina, and the food there was GREAT. The places here didn't really appeal to us based on their appearance; everything seems a bit neglected and abandoned. Despite that, the food is still excellent, although you wouldn't think so at first glance. On the other hand, the beaches were beautiful. I would recommend renting a golf cart to get around the island.

Beautiful island . Perfect for family time and relaxing.

Beautiful island . Perfect for family time and relaxing. Gorgeous, pristine beaches with soft sand and warm water. We mostly ate at our hotel but the food at Pimienta y Sal was really good too. Pimienta y Sal is right on Playa Larga which was my favorite beach of the three we visited. You can rent a golf cart at your hotel to get around the island, which is also very walkable too. Going to contadora next time, I would take one of the small planes that come in daily several times a day, especially if you’re pressed for time to get back to Panama City. The ferri ride is ok but I takes 2 hours each direction. The plane ride is only $20 more and it’s a lot faster. I would have really liked to have had the time to stay a couple days longer. We had a wonderful time!!!

Contadora Island made an easy get away from Panama City over a weekend during a two week work trip. The ferry to the island was affordable, easy and we even saw humpback whales and dolphins on the way. The beaches I visited on Contadora were clean with beautiful warm water. If I return to Panama City for work again, I am likely to book a trip to Contadora Island again.

Ferry ride from Panama City was easy, comfortable and safe.

Ferry ride from Panama City was easy, comfortable and safe. Island is also very safe, with friendly people and beautiful beaches. Renting a golf cart was the right thing to do as it allowed us to explore everything. The tap/shower water smells a bit funky, and there are not a lot of restaurants/food choices, but otherwise great for a few days for our family of three - we came for the gorgeous beaches! The town is very quiet, this is not a party place.

Contadora Island is beautiful and very safe.

Contadora Island is beautiful and very safe. The whitish, sandy beaches, and transparent to turquoise water are splendid. The disadvantages are the relatively high ratio of the cost of hotels relative to facilities. Food is very expensive. Restaurants charge European type food prices. In most of the US you would pay less for the meals served on Contadora. Fresh fruit is relatively hard to get on Contadora. If we return to Contadora we will bring fresh fruit and other food from Panama City.

The onsite dining facility (stunning view of the beach and nearby islands) and good food) and complementary breakfast were fabulous. Pleased to have an early morning gratus coffee before breakfast was being served. We ate at a couple nearby restaurants a few blocks away....easy walking distance. Casa Tortuga (Italian) is a dining experience not to be passed up! We walked everywhere but golf cart rentals looked like fun too. White sand beach was perfect 'front yard.'

Hibiscus house was a great place to stay on the island. The room was great and the bed comfortable. Air conditioning was good. We had a TV and access to Netflix and other programs. The breakfast was great. Both Nicola and Allen were great hosts. When we asked about anything, they were very helpful in answering our questions. They picked us up from the ferry and took us back to the ferry. Our room was cleaned everyday.

Great stay at Gerald’s. Staff here are so friendly and helpful with everything. Had a good breakfast to set us up for the day. Great evening food in the restaurant too. Gerald was always there to offer help and advice on what to do and see, he even arranged a buggy for us to get around. Hotel is ideally placed to see things. We would go back to stay.
