Wellington is a wonderful city to explore with many things to see and do. The mecca is the waterfront with vibrant bars and restaurants, leading to the famous Te Papa museum. Shopping is fantastic many brands and stores catering to all. if you want to buy shoes, Wellington has the shops for shoes! Cable car a gorgeous view and a must do for any visitor. Botanical gardens are accessible also from the top of the cable car with the stunning views of the harbor and beyond. Oriental parade is a beautiful walk with lanes for cycles so all can join. Wellington is a great place for a gettaway, girls/boys trip or a shopping trip - wellington has it all covered!

We did not have any preconceptions of Wellington but did think it might be like Canberra, where we live near, with it being a capital city. Wellington is much nicer than Canberra and everything was so easy to walk to. It's such a great little city that I would love to return to some day.

The Wellington Cable car was nearby and clearly signposted.
The Wellington Cable car was nearby and clearly signposted. A great ride and fantastic views at the top. We were a little disappointed that we could not buy the Senior tickets , even though we are clearly of age and had ID to confirm senior status. Apparently we needed to be Kiwi Seniors.
Harbour and waterfront was fascinating and we were a short distance from the Beehive and Museums.

My stay at the Mercure Hotel in Wellington over the Easter period was an absolute delight. The hotel's prime location allowed for easy exploration of the city, providing a perfect balance of convenience and tranquility. The room exceeded my expectations, offering comfort and luxury that enhanced my holiday experience. Every detail, from the tasteful decor to the attentive service, was tailored to ensure a memorable stay. It was truly a home away from home, and I couldn't have asked for more from my Easter getaway.
The hotel staff was incredibly welcoming and accommodating, with a special shoutout to the delightful Filipino receptionist who went above and beyond to make us feel at home. We were pleasantly surprised when we were upgraded to a spacious and well-appointed room, which was impeccably clean and comfortable. The hotel's central location was perfect for exploring the city, and overall, our stay was nothing short of excellent. We are already looking forward to returning in the future.
breakfast was ideal from the OJ to great cereal choice and whole meal toast. The tea was strong and perfect for a days work
Excellent and charming facilities. Warm and comfortable. Easy parking, superbly located to work and relaxation in Wellington city. John is a wonderful host and it seemed all the other guests were very interesting and friendly.
Beats a sterile and impersonal fancy hotel hands down.
