Picton is a small town but is a great entry point for anyone travelling to the South Island via ferry. It has interesting little shops in the town centre. It is a great place to explore the east coast from here.

We enjoyed walking around the small town, our favourite coffee shop was SeaBreeze (near the roundabout), and best dining was at Whalers up near the sailing club.
On Wednesday night we joined the RSA Trivia night at Texas Tea, great fun and food.
We bought souvenirs at locally owned stores... Spotlight on NZ and Choice Gallery.

A great seaside town with nice park setting on the waterfront. Easy walking distance from most accommodation options with a number of food and cafe options. There are some great walks nearby and picturesque boat marina with good views of the Picton Harbour looking out to Queen Charlotte Sound and nearby Waikawa Bay.

This motel is a delightful throwback to the 70s era explosion in construction of motels. most in smaller towns to adapt to welcoming the increasing number of international visitors to New Zealand with the launch of the Boeing 747. Recognised as bringing tourism to the masses. Formica is everywhere in the rooms, which are usually as spacious as they are in the AAA Marlin Motel.
Very efficient check in and staff were very helpful. The room was clean and spacious and had good views. The hotel is very close to Picton with easy access to shops, ferries, bars, restaurants and walks
it was a great hotel. Everything was very nice and clean in the room. It's incredible, but the owners of the hotel made it unique! Very beautiful design.
