Super spot for hiking and the hot springs were a fun way to relax after the hike. Best to self cater. There is a good size supermarket. The colour of the lake is glorious. we saw the observatory because it was on our hike. We only stayed one night but we all agreed that we should of extended another day. Lake Tekapo was very easy to get around . One long strip of shops and restaurants. You need to book a restaurant as they close early as some were more popular than others. We settled for Fish and Chips instead. A little takeaway shop hidden on the main stripe. Don't be taken back as this was one of the best fish and chip shops around. A little gem and the fish, chips and burgers were to die for.AAnonymous - Scored 1010

I’ve visited this place several times, but each visit has never felt quite enough. I could have easily stayed there forever. The town was small and quiet, yet it was the combination of the lake, the dark sky reserve perfect for stargazing, and the mountains in the distance that made everything feel absolutely perfect.KhalidNew Zealand - Scored 1010

I had a long wish list but only have 2 days to explore hence...
I had a long wish list but only have 2 days to explore hence I picked the ones most suitable for the weather and timing. We went to Mt Cook and did a short hiking at Tasman glacier car park to the river side, short 25-30 minutes mostly flat walking to a super rewarding view of the river with big ice blocks in the river, and the blue colour of the lake was just so unique. We tasted the salmon at the shop beside the Lake Pukaki, simple menu but great taste with great view. Had the best burger at Lake Tekapo beside the lake where a few food trucks are there, the one we had is from Monster Kitchen who has 4.9 rating, I would give them 5!

What a lovely house with a beautiful view of Lake Tekapo!
What a lovely house with a beautiful view of Lake Tekapo! The kitchen and laundry are fully equipped, everything is spotless, and the beds are very comfortable. Only a 3-minute drive to the Four Square supermarket. Definitely planning to come back again!

The park was jam packed with tourists using cabins, caravan places and hostel facilities, however felt super private and peaceful. The room was spacious with fantastic views of lake tekapo. Kitchenette in the private cabins were great, cant cook in them, though the shared bbqs and kitchens are just outside the door.
