For an older place, it had some nice touches, like a sink, kettle and teabags in the room. The bed and pillow were good. It was warm and clean enough. The shower's look a bit scary but I was glad I went there as the pressure was good, and it was a toasty temperature and easy to control.

This is a quiet town but an important destination for those taking the Trans Alpine trains. But the draw of the town should be Monteith's Brewery! They have guided tours and their selection of freshly brewed beer and their food were delicious.
You can stay in Greymouth and drive for 30 minutes to Horkitika, a beach front town. There are nice eateries and shops in Horkitika and you can easily spend a day there.

A lovely township with beautiful bush on one side and the rugged Tasman Sea. Some lovely buildings in the CBD, and the restaurants, bakeries and takeaways, are well worth visiting.
Greymouth is a good starting place to travel the West Coast from. You can go south to Hokitika or North to Westport.

Loved that it was a short 4-5 minute drive out of Greymouth.
We opted for the private stand alone cabin rather than the lodge rooms.
Loved the privacy and parking directly at the front of the door.
Host was welcoming, helpful and friendly.
Facilities were all very clean, tidy and comfortable.
Would definitely be quite comfortable for a lengthier stay (we were only there overnight as we were taking the trans alpine rail the following day)
Would recommend Oak Lodge.
We enjoyed our stay in the well-equipped and quiet motel, which is located outside town, surrounded by meadows and woods. The cottage was very clean and spacious and had a private terrace. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. During high season they prepare dinner for their guests, using fresh vegetables from their garden, We highly recommend to book the dinner, which was one of the best we had in new Zealand.
Location is good, within walking distance to the railway station for the Tranzalpine train. The room is spacious and very clean, and it had lovely clean, thick towels. I had a room overlooking the river and a bit of the sea. I didn't take my meals in the hotel, so I can't rate the food. Nevertheless, I enjoyed my short stay here in this hotel. I'm glad I didn't book a cheaper alternative.
We love everything about it-- the ambiance, the facilities, the minimalism, the location, the scenery. We'd like to thank the person who had the idea of putting a body mist in the toilet. We've been to many hotels & staycation homes but this is the first time we've seen one in the toilet. That was so thoughtful & sweet!
This place was unbelievable and far exceeded my expectations. The room was large and clean and the bed so comfy. The bathroom was big as well and this was by far the best value for money during our entire two week stay in New Zealand. I wish we were able to stay longer as it was fabulous.
