Gizzy is an awesome town to experience if you have never been there before. Lots to do especially walking, kayaking, swimming, surfing and exploring. The shops are great with some speciality clothing shops. Everywhere you go there is water. Thoroughly recommend for whānau with children.

Enjoyed the drive to Gisborne from Havelock North.

Enjoyed the drive to Gisborne from Havelock North. Liked the city. People were very nice, friendly and helpful. Liked the park areas, botanical gardens, the harbour area. Chose the wrong place to stay. We ate at The Lone Star on the harbour the first night then the second night at CRK -Crawford Road Kitchen, excellent! Both had very nice staff. Again enjoyed the drive from there to Shaker and our next stop.

Gisborne offers a warm welcome set against a balanced background. Locals are helpful and friendly. Weather is warm and although I did not visit the beaches I understand they are great! - Time limited. Enjoyed my brief stay.

Summertime the city must buzz. Beaches, surfing etc.

Summertime the city must buzz. Beaches, surfing etc. Sunny days 24* the days I was there already. Concerts, choirs, shows what else could you want. Plenty of restaurants and clubs to go to for a good night out. I dined at The Forces (RSA) and the Cossie Club as well as several cafes in Gladstone Rd. It is very easy to move around the city as the CBD is quite compact and the drivers were very good and allowed for tourists gazing about whilst driving.

The white Heron absolutely exceeded my expectations in terms of customer service, cleanliness, comfort, aesthetic, value for money and amenities. This is my third booking at the white Heron and after having stayed at every quality accommodation facility in Gisborne there is absolutely nowhere else I would rather stay.
