Distinction Dunedin Hotel, hotel in Dunedin

Distinction Dunedin Hotel has been elegantly refurbished to reflect the rich heritage of this 1930’s former post office.

Upgraded to junior suite - very thankful! Big bathroom, narrow but more than adequate living/kitchen/dining room, very large bedroom. Super clean. Large shower which did *not* tend to splash into the rest of the bathroom. Nice large porcelain tiling in bathroom, single sheet of tempered glass for backsplash in kitchen which is great cuz to my mind the less grout the better...nice mini bar and great tea selection. The building being built as post office in ~1937 is built like a concrete tank. Very quiet. Quiet area a quick few blocks from the Octogon and surrounds.

Hotel St Clair, hotel in Dunedin

Hotel St Clair is located just 10 minutes’ drive from central Dunedin. Rooms include flat-screen satellite TV, private bathroom with under-floor heating and views of St Clair Beach.

The location overlooking the sea is fabulous, and the main selling point of the hotel. The apartment rooms were spacious and generally well appointed. Underfloor heating in the bathroom a bonus. Double-glazing kept out street noises but we could still hear the muffled comforting sound of the sea. Parking onsite another bonus.

The Chamberson, hotel in Dunedin

Well situated in the center of Dunedin, The Chamberson has 5-star accommodations close to Taieri Gorge Railway and Toitu Otago Settlers Museum.

Everything was on point. Nicely situated, close to all the things you need - supermarket, restaurants, pubs, public transport, city center. The room was nice and spacious, with an awesome bed and fluffy bedding. In the kitchen was everything that you could need which doesn't happen often - pan, toaster, cutlery, even salt/pepper/oil. Besides all these things, others stood out. 1) Customer service - nothing was a problem, the staff replied in a bit and they were very kind and helpful. 2) A heated floor in the bathroom - especially in winter is such a nice thing. 3) Totally two heaters - one in the bedroom and one in the living room. 4) Water in the refrigerator ready to drink and a variety of coffee, milk, and tea. Also, I had a room for disabled - can only recommend if available - a wider hallway and a bit more spacious. Nevertheless, I saw a normal room as well and it was still very nice. I stayed totally for 7 nights and only can recommend it.

The motels are places for easy access to a Supermarket and petrol station right across the road, close by for us for the people we were visiting and also for places of interest to visit. The negative side was the entry in and out of the motels. Very close to a very busy corner, one had to be extra careful entering and exiting it.

    Great city!

Great city! Lots of places to explore and lots of food places to choose from. We drove through the Peninsula up to Invercargill which was a scenic drive. We also got to visit Larnach Castle which is the only castle in NZ :)

An amazing small city with rich culture and amazing architecture, amazing setting with a port, access to nature, hills, many beaches & bays, public squares and parks, delicious foods and very friendly, genuine people. A great feeling of permeance that is missing from most other NZ cities, I felt like I was in a scottish movie set at times. Will visit again soon! Lots to see and easy to get around.

I just love the Dunedin vibe.

I just love the Dunedin vibe. I was at a conference so didn't get a lot of spare time on this trip. Usually, I do all sorts of things. The museum, the Metro Cinema, an escape room, art gallery, church services, and the beach! Did I mention the great shopping?!
