Clyde is a quiet small township off the main highway.
Clyde is a quiet small township off the main highway. It has quite a few cafes, art galleries etc. bike hire etc. We were touring and so only stayed one night but enjoyed a delicious dinner at the Old Post Office with plenty of locals in too.ChristineAustralia - Scored 1010

We located in Clyde to ride the River Trail and Roxborough Gorge. Our accommodation was central to bike hire services and cafes. There were lovely walks to enjoy and shops to browse. It was quiet, tidy and peaceful in Clyde.NelsonNew Zealand - Scored 1010

In Clyde, I was looking for a quiet-ish place with a bit of activity around, so I could do some work without distractions, but feel not too distant from other people. Clyde exceeded my expectations! What I liked - there's such a variety of things around - a beautiful historic town centre with a few cafes and restaurants. Even a cinema. There's wine stuff nearby for those who are into that (I'm not into that personally). And there are a few walking tracks - I did part of the Cairnmuir Hill Track, which offered beautiful landscapes and stunning views of the surrounding areas. I also really enjoyed looking at the nearby Hydro dam.

Great place to visit and the Start of the Lake Dunstan Cycle...
Great place to visit and the Start of the Lake Dunstan Cycle Trail. Cyclists are well catered for and at the end of the day there are a number of cafes, and a couple of excellent restaurants. .. just need to book. Very enjoyable small Central Otago town full of heritage buildings and beside the river - a great place to explore.

Right in the middle of Clyde, in fact, right on the footpath in a beautifully renovated timber cottage that we believe used to house the newspaper, the Dunstan times. So tastefully done, everything you could need for a comfortable stay inside the unit, with a bonus of a lovely little veranda out the back soaked in sunshine in the afternoons.
